    Re: Samsung PS50A656T1F clicking

There are no schematics for this board , but I have a board here, and have repaired a few in the past but I have not had the problem with the relays not coming in, I know that the PS on to ground has to comes though the CN801 socket then goes though the sub board then to relay and CN802 to logic board and the relay will not come in if you try grounding the PS on pin on the CN802 socket. That was why I changed the way to jump it on to the JP145, so first of all can you check that the jumper wire JP145 is connected to the PSon pin on CN801

      Hi Floko,

Just checked and JP145 is not connected to PSON on connector CN801, it is connected to the GND_12V and GND_5.3V pins on connector CN801.

Just a quick suggestion is it worth me bringing it to you as I am only in Hawkinge

Sorry just checked on my board and can know see I was wrong its JP154 (not JP145) that is the jumper that goes to PSon so touch that to ground, that should make the relay come in Flocko

          Hi Floko,

OK just touched JP154 to the chassis behind the PCB's and the relay clicks in.

with the relay in have you got all the small voltages 5v,12, Va ? if yes get a 500ohm resistor and on the back of board solder between Vs on and D5.3v on the CN802 socket the when you apply JP154 to ground the Vs voltage should also come up. report what you find Flocko

Hi Floko, Sorry for delay been away, I cant find anyone selling a 500 ohm resistor, looked on ebay and Maplins, would a 470 ohm be OK?

Or do you have any 500 ohm resistors? I would happily come to you to buy one from you.

                470 Ohms is fine.

                  Hi,

Sorry for delay, OK just re tried the JP154 thing, so touched JP154 to the chassis behind the PCB's, the replay clicks, I get a green light on that little PCB that stick out from the PSU, I checked 5.3v, 12v and only showing around 120mv that just drops and after a short will it is on around 15mv. Not sure where Va is the measure?

That was with no resistor fitted, as per Floko's request, is there any point attaching the 470 ohm resistor?

I was just asking, because the mV readings were kinda low. What are the voltage readings?

Andy sorry mate but we have been on this board now for well over two months, and dont seem to be getting any were. So are you now saying that with PS on to ground and the relay in you are just seeing mv on all the outputs (5/ 12 +VA )I am assuming that you are maintaining PS on to ground and not just flashing it?

Hi Floko, I know sorry had a few family issues to deal with and my grandad passed away

OK I hold the wire to JP154 and just touch the chassis once and take wire away, so are you saying I need to keep the contact between JP154 and the chassis?

Thank you for all your help. Or a thought Floko could I talk with you over the phone to sort this as do not want to be a pain.

Sorry to hear of your loss, yes the PS on to ground has to be connected all the time, then you can test to see if you have the low volts , check for them and let me know

                                    Hi Floko,

Thank you for that, it has been a massive shock to all the family.

I have just used a piece of wire wrapped round JP154 and the other end in one of the spare threaded posts on the rear metal panel behind the PCB's.

You hear a relay click 6 times, the LED on the small PCB that sticks out comes on then goes off and then flashes 5 times, stops for a few seconds and again flashes 5 times and the cycle continues, no more relays clicking either.

I don't have a power board to check against as I sold the last one I had, And have not had the buyers faulty one back as yet, the blink code? if you look to the side of the little sub board ,you will see screen printed what the code is telling you? if you can tell me what it is saying then we can move on to some more tests

I think Vg is 15v rail check for shorts to components on heat sink on far right, also check diodes and look for any domed caps to the right of that heat sink. As there are no schematics for this board it could take a bit of testing to find the fault , and I am not sure how good the blink test results can be. but you have now got a lot to check , so let me know how it goes.
