    Re: Vizio Failing afterwarm

A comparison in voltage readings between working and not working is best, to see if anything changes between working and not working states. The idea is that if something changes you can hopefully use that to narrow down where the problem may lie.

If it never works, and you can't compare states, then taking voltage readings anyway is still generally the first thing to do. You might notice that one voltage rail is missing, for example. Then you can try to find out why.

To start with, you want to take readings with all boards plugged in, try to find out if there is anything obviously wrong with the readings, and then try to find out why. Unplugging boards only makes sense if the readings suggest it. Pulling boards at random doesn't usually give any sensible results. If the symptoms changes, is it because the board was faulty, or just because it's now unplugged? You need to have some idea of what unplugging something is going to do.

If something dies after 1 minute a heat related issue is possible, a can of freezer spray would probably be used too.

Actually in the case of it dying quickly like that, what I'd probably do is check everything in the failure state, if any rail or signal looked suspicious\missing, then check just that signal\voltage again after it cooled down and was working. Then you don't need to try to check everything during the limited time. If you found that it changes, then you should at least know where to start looking.

That's the kind of general idea, anyway. Or at least, how I would do it to start with, I suppose. There may be better ways.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

HP Elitebook 8460p battery led white and blinking orange
          by jorpec
          Hello everyone

I have this Elitebook that wont turn on, only the battery led is white and blinking orange, does this even without battery.
If this is a error code i couldn't find any info about it.
Already tested with a another charger, measure the presence on 19v on the 19v rail, checked if there was capacitors in short-circuit

          Thanks...

Vizio E70-E3 Two white vertical lines
          by brad2157
I picked up a Vizio E70-E3 for free that shows Vizio logo and then goes to a black screen. Original owner said he started having wifi issues and then he tried to reset the TV and that's when it wouldn't boot up any longer after his reset attempt. I picked up a replacement main board from eBay that matches the same model # board as the original from the TV.

Original main board - Shows Vizio logo when TV powers on, then goes to black screen. Doesn't boot up. No screen issues with any lines on start up Vizio logo.

Replacement main board - Boots up fine, but starting...

Vizio M65-E0 No Picture, No Sound
          by ggil44
Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...
