Before I start. Can the back be removed while leaving the stand in place? It appears that the stand has to come off 1st before removing the back. Set has backlight but no menu makes me suspect the M.B. I connected a HDMI signal but got no sound. With no video all I can do is cycle through the inputs with the remote. Set is too heavy to remove off stand with two people. Need one on each end and one to remove the stand.

Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Pic or sound but has backlight
I found a owners manual. The stand has to come off. I was able to cycle through the inputs and I do have sound. There is the faint glow of backlights when pressing some of the remote buttons. Hope to get some help with set on stand to remove back. Set is on the stand band all the screws are out. guess the thing is snapped together too!Last edited by Ltank; 02-18-2015, 02:40 PM.

Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Pic or sound but has backlight
Does anyone have a T-Con schematic for CPWBX RUNTK5261TP ZH. There are some small test points near the ribbon cable inputs on the T-Con that come from the Main Board. If the inputs are good then it should be the T-Con. If the inputs to the T-con are bad the it should be the Main Board. Shop Jimmy info on these two boards are misleading.
The voltage was good on both sides of the fuse. 12.5 vdc.
Thanks Guys

Important Message: Look for the ZH stamped on the board.
IMPORTANT: The following picture symptoms indicate a bad LCD panel, and NOT a bad T-con board:
-One side of the picture is darker than the other
-Picture has horizontal line(s)
-A dark, cloudy spot spreads across the picture
Installing a new T-con board in a panel with one of the defects above will result in damaging the new board.

is this true? can a bad panel ruin a new tcon?Last edited by triplefour; 04-05-2015, 03:59 AM.Don't fear the repair...

Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Pic or sound but has backlight
thing is, im trying to fix my friends tv which has the same problem of blank backlit screen with sound. it's the VIZIO E701I-A3 which came with the ZH stamp on the t-con but i didnt notice that when i ordered the ZE one by mistake which i guess is for the 60" tv. are we sure that the result of a mismatched but functioning TCON and panel would result in the same backlit blank screen? or would you maybe see a corrupted image of the wrong size?
what volts would you expect to see on the ribbon cable connecting the tcon to the panel? and how do you measure them without touching two of them together with the probe? the pin pitch is so tiny.
edit: great and it turns out i ordered the wrong motherboard too.
guess i gotta get my hands on the correct parts and try again. why didnt i check the forum first?!?! stupid stupid stupid!
anyone need parts for the 60" ?Last edited by triplefour; 04-05-2015, 04:23 AM.Don't fear the repair...

Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Pic or sound but has backlight
Most people use HDMI 1. I test that 1st with a single of picture and sound. If no sound then cycle through all the other inputs. If the main board is processing sound then one of inputs will work.
When you find the one with sound that would be input that is selected even though you have no menu on the screen.
