    Panasonic TC-P54 Doornail Dead

Seems to be my week for Panasonics...

I just got in yesterday a nice Panny TC-P54 Unfortunately, I left the back at the shop (working from home today) and don't have the rest of the Model Number..

This unit does not power up. Does not light up. Completely dead.. The only thing I notice is a slight power hum in the vicinity of the Power PCB when I plug in the unit..

Right off the bat, I noticed some differences from the last Panasonic.. There doesn't appear to be any VS or VA connections. Further, no voltage label on the back of the display. There IS a VSUS TP and a VDA TP on the power PCB, but that is all I can find.. There are a few TP posts scattered through out the Power PCB, but only the VSUS and the VDA are marked. There is 0V on the VSUS and VDA points.. The only voltage I have confirmed is the incoming voltage of 120v AC...

I grabbed some manuals from Toms Place (thanx Tom! ) but none of them match this set exactly...

Any thoughts on my next step?

most likely Tc-P54g25. remove the SC2 and sc20 leads and see if any changes

don't reconnect after shutdown, if it powers up. vsus can be measured at either p2,sc2 ss11 or p11, 203v or so i think. get use to no labels from 2010 on.

I was jumping the gun a bit. sounding like A board but i'd check across sc2 for short as these have a habit of blowing the SC shorting Vsus. A7 pin 1 is 5v stb, any life there?

p59 is probably a good place to start. Know any history on the TV as to what happened

so basically, plug in to power relay clicks, if no then check 5v, you have that, then disconnect k board in case it's shorted, if still dead = A board

I guess check the SD slot for foreign object shorting board(coin)

Nope.. Came in blind to the shop... Guy wanted it fixed, I estimated about $150.. He said scroo that, so I gave him $50 for it..

I checked the manual you posted.. Awesome, thanks!

I checked for a short on the P15V line. All the connectors pulled and still dead.. But I noticed that the page (Slide 10) said P25

If a short is found on the P15V line, remove connectors P6, P11, P25, and SC20 one at a time to determine which board is defective.

The P25 Connector is empty. No cable.

Nothing in the SD card slot... That woulda been kewl if that's all it was..

Disconnected all P connectors.. Plug in, nothing happens. No relay click no nuttin...

                        Bad Power PCB??

generic guide, I think P6, P25 no use labelled in the manual. But did you find a short? if not then all that is meaningless. It's the F15v that needs to be activated for the relays to click, the 5vstb is used to produce 1.2v, stb3.3v which is also used to power the standby LED. So 5v stb but no front LED and no relay clicks is A board. You may find one for $150

                              should be either TNPH0834AF or TNPH0834AD depending on whether it's a G20 or G25.

I guess you have no other 2010 fhd A boards laying around, any size TV would do.

According to the Troubleshooting (Slide 12), if there is no short to ground on pin 1 of P2 and no short to ground on pin 1 of SC2, then replace the SS board..

                                Am I reading that right??

I looked yesterday when this first came in. No compatible boards on my boards shelves.. I might have some compatible units awaiting dis-assembly in the sheds...

you're reading it right but not using it right. those are procedures for when you have found shorts i.e. you have a shorted line but now need to drill down to what board.

That brings me back to what i said earlier, have you found shorts?

The Tv is dead, has 5v stdby, no LED, no relay clicks from what i'm reading.

                                    A board

any g20/g25 should be able to plug in and at least see if the stdby led and relay clicks, could turn it on but picture will be wrong but at least confirms A board
