Toshiba 46SL412U (no video, no sound)

Hi all, I will like some assistance with a problem I am receiving with a Toshiba, model number #46SL412U. I recently acquired a Toshiba television, no video and no sound. So obviously on assumptions, I though it was T-con board, so I ordered it and replaced it, still the same problem. A few weeks ago my friend lent his television same model as mine, so I said I will swap the boards to see what the problem is. The first thing I did was to swap the main input board. My friend television still work, mine didn't, same problem so I knew the main input board was good. The next step I did was to swap the power supply board, same problem. The power board was good. Next I swap the T-con board, my television didn't work neither did his so I swap back his original T-con board and now both television are doing the same thing. The back light is coming on bright for 2 seconds then its dimming down and staying on. Now I don't know what to do because I am clueless. Can someone please assist me?

You may get a better response if you post some pics of the boards. Also take some voltage readings and post those as well.

Sounds like your t-control board Is shorting out other components. Bad components can damage other components, even on different boards.

May be you have bad component on the LCD such as TFT driver ICs, MLCC that shorted out and took out the T-CON board since now your friend T-CON also does not work in his TV any more.

I would say, with almost certainty, you have a defective panel (screen) that has eaten the T-con.if you are lucky, then maybe just the surface mount fuse has failed, located next to where the LVDS cable fits to the T-con.

I want to agree with Budm Post#6, But will a defective T-CON affect the audio as well? Shouldn't the audio work since the Main and Power Bds are OK? Does anyone have a Service Manual they can share??

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
