    samsung ps-42c96hd totally dead

    hello

got this tv today totally dead no VS or VA voltages so examined the power supply for any visible faults but nothing checked the fuses which are ok,but had one of these before where cold solder joints are common so resoldered the board now i have the correct VS 203 v VA 60 v voltages but the tv switches on with the chime but thats it,also the control board is flashing green should it be constantly lit green ?

    thanks

    Re: samsung ps-42c96hd totally dead

Samsung logic boards usually flash a fast flash at 1 second on/off when everything is normal and slow flash about 5 seconds when there is a problem sensed.

Do you have the other voltages like Ve and -Vscan?

      VScan -189.6 volts
      VSch -59.6 volts
      Ve 98 volts

Yeah, sounds like a logic board problem.

Try the logic board test jumper trick by shorting whatever the two highest pin numbers on the test jumper are (usually 3-4), the main board can be totally disconnected, and just force PS-ON to ground. I'm expecting that to not work but it's worth a shot.

Then, I'd start checking voltages on the logic board. There are a whole swack of regulators on there and it's quite possible you're just missing one or more of the power supplies to some chips. Check for power to everything, check any fuses and all the regulators.

just a question i have a screen that glows/lights up with sound all voltages seem fine, but on the bottom of the panel you have buffers there is a fuse which i have tested and is working but should i be getting a voltage reading when the tv is working from that fuse because im getting no reading

              thanks

If you suspect the logic board, why not just swap that over too

Ah, misunderstood. Thought you said you had another Tv to swap from, but just the main board,

Yeah, I would definitely trace that back to see where it's supposed to be fed from and see if you can figure out why you don't have power there. That is quite possibly your smoking gun. (Or at least part the problem.)

and does anyone know what voltage i should be getting from the fuse i have uploaded via picture

On that panel sticker which i out of focus, looks like 63V. Word of warning do not disconnect then reconnect that grey 3 pin lead from the xmain to that buffer board.without making sure there is novoltage(residual) i killed the 50" model arcing that because I left it off by mistake, turn the tv off then large arc and dead panel.

that comes via the xmain so what is that connector labelled as?

VE on the panel is marked up as 99 volts im getting 98 volts from the xsus
the buffer number where the fuse is LJ92-01498A

Whatever is next to 205V for Vs is what i believe goes to those buffers, looks like 63V, Va?

just looked at a US version and that's routed direct to those from the PSu, trying to find your xmain version.

                                  Re: samsung ps-42c96hd totally dead

I can't be 100% sure without trying to dig for manuals etc but trace it back. there's only 1 main power input to the X and looks like Vs, Va, gnd, vcc goes in and I'm pretty sure 63V would be those bottom buffers because it's about 50-60 v on the panasonics i mess with down there. Not sure but it may also get 5v supplied too but you have 2 cables supplying the one voltage to that point so I'm thinking 63v.

hope someone can tell you for sure.

                                    VS 205 VA 63 VSC -190 VE 99

mine are VS 203 VA 60 (from the psu) VSC -187 (on ysus using Vscan) VE 97 (from xsus)

Should have Va on both ends of that fuse (about 60V)
