Does this look like burn in?

Got this a week ago. Just finally got to it. It's a Toshiba 42HP66. I had a good logic board so I tried that first. I think it might have been worse before, but I can't really say. This uses the same PDP as the Viore PDP42V18HA I parted out last month because it wasn't worth buying a main for, and also because it had slight burn in. I'd left it connected to my laptop with no screensaver for a couple days, lesson learned. So I actually have another PDP to try, but it's not much better. And it's a whole lot of work just to see if it's burn in before I part it out. Vs and Vs are dead on too.

It's the whole darker area in the middle that I'm talking about.

A few days is unlikely to burn in the screen, but it might cause image retention, which needs time to fade.

This one, I have no clue how long it's been down. I guess I'll try the other PDP later. That one's been sitting for at least a month.

think I read about some tvs having a setting or procedure, something about white screen that helps clear up screen retention?

Run it for a day or two with static from atsc tuner. Worth a shot to see if it normalizes.

I think he means NTSC static.

I agree, though, it's probably not really burn-in of the phosphors, a good wipe run or snow static for a couple days would likely clear them right up.

I've seen several plasma panels that I thought for sure were starting to burn in (from computer outputs left on too long / media center selection screens, etc.) that faded out just fine after some time on random noise but it takes a lot longer than the typical built-in 20 minute or so scrolling-white wipe cycle in most plasmas.

You'll probably have to feed in a video signal of static from an external source or disable any auto-shutdown as most tuners will recognise no/low signal and shut off the TV for inactivity.

I meant atsc, just static from a dead ota hd channel.

that was it, white wipe, havent come across only a couple plasmas, they look very challenging.
