Got this a week ago. Just finally got to it. It's a Toshiba 42HP66. I had a good logic board so I tried that first. I think it might have been worse before, but I can't really say. This uses the same PDP as the Viore PDP42V18HA I parted out last month because it wasn't worth buying a main for, and also because it had slight burn in. I'd left it connected to my laptop with no screensaver for a couple days, lesson learned. So I actually have another PDP to try, but it's not much better. And it's a whole lot of work just to see if it's burn in before I part it out. Vs and Vs are dead on too.

It's the whole darker area in the middle that I'm talking about.------------signature starts here------------

Re: Does this look like burn in?
A few days is unlikely to burn in the screen, but it might cause image retention, which needs time to fade. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Does this look like burn in?
This one, I have no clue how long it's been down. I guess I'll try the other PDP later. That one's been sitting for at least a month.------------signature starts here------------

Re: Does this look like burn in?
think I read about some tvs having a setting or procedure, something about white screen that helps clear up screen retention?Comment

Re: Does this look like burn in?
I think he means NTSC static.
I agree, though, it's probably not really burn-in of the phosphors, a good wipe run or snow static for a couple days would likely clear them right up.
I've seen several plasma panels that I thought for sure were starting to burn in (from computer outputs left on too long / media center selection screens, etc.) that faded out just fine after some time on random noise but it takes a lot longer than the typical built-in 20 minute or so scrolling-white wipe cycle in most plasmas.
You'll probably have to feed in a video signal of static from an external source or disable any auto-shutdown as most tuners will recognise no/low signal and shut off the TV for inactivity.Last edited by drussell; 01-25-2015, 12:39 PM.Comment

by ttmi100xGreetings everyone,
I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...
The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.
Upon closer inspection...6 Photos-

by howardc64Eventually discovered a burn mark near lower corner of LCD. Here is a summary
- Backlight on, no image
- Disconnect right buffer board (view from front), left side display comes on
- Masked off pin 7+8 (both ~12,5v on both left and right buffer board) from t-con to right buffer board (view from front) display works but have some lines
- Buffer board is pretty simple

by ktmmotocrossHello. Have this Dell G15 5511 la-k455p that new gpu fan burn and left pwm sig from sio with 10 ohms.
I read that this sio MEC1515 must be programmed, but someone says dont. My Vertyanov seems dont have this model in it.
Laptop works and can be tricked by split pwm, but i dont want to do this stuff this way.
So anyone really knows if it must be programmed?09-16-2025, 07:11 AM -

Westinghouse TV WD48FAB100 Not Powering On – Burn Mark Found on Power Supply .
I have a Westinghouse LED TV, model WD48FAB100 that is not powering on. Upon removing the back cover, I noticed a burn mark where the AC cord connects to the power supply/main board. In this model, there is only one board combining the two functions. Previous owner said the TV experienced a lightening strike, but who knows. I checked the main fuse, tested OK. Here are a collection of readings from the power supply ports. Looking for some guidance on what to test/check next.... -
by dumbddI have a Sony 75x940e that I just fixed with the help of the forum (bad emmc). For the last couple of months I was noticing some burn in of the android home icons on dark backgrounds (photo is attached). I always thought VA panels were immune to burn ins. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Could it be because of a failing component other than the panel itself?...07-19-2023, 09:23 PM
