Safe to assume SC board is solid?

yes, that's the whole idea of that to help determine how many boards are involved. It at least confirms the voltages on the Sc are in tolerance, can still have image issues but unlikely.

Cool, replacement buffer should be here tomorrow. I will update when I get it installed/tested.

check it first for shorts before install. did you check yours to confirm it's shorted?

I did see a small pock mark on one chip under some of the glue (IC's are covered in it) So I sure this was the cause. I ran out of time to do a check on it but it seems this IC is suspect.

well, all I can suggest is check for short between vfg and the buffer outputs on that replacement because i have blown a 5081 SC with 2 shorted buffer boards on a 50" not doing this

Never tested a Panny buffer, I am sure its the same as doing other plasma buffers.

Do they have test points? I know LG buffers do. I didnt see any on this though.

Test from the screws to each of the pins on the connectors going to the plasma panel.

So I put my Fluke in Diode mode and Put the + probe on the HV Screw landing and ran the - probe over the connector pins and it seems every chip has a short? I was getting solid beeps all over the connector on each output on each HV screw landing.

dead, very lucky with the Sc board then not blowing.

Panel is up and running with a new SM board installed. Picture looks excellent. I do notice this tv likes image retention if you Switch from bright to dark content like stopping a bluray mid scene. Seems to go away instantly once a signal/picture comes on after.

Gonna call it fixed. I have a set of TY-ER3D5MA IR Viera 3D glasses but tin cannot get them to sync to this tv.

My 50 always does that from a still image but when in normal no issues and has over 10 000 hrs, I think it is a characteristic as there is never an after image watching TV.

                                  enjoy

                                      by cloo
I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing hereπŸ€”?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting πŸ˜‚.

                                      Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks

                                      Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

                                      Hi All,

Thank you in advance for your advice.

I have a Panasonic Plasma tc-p55vt50 that's about 9 years old and has just recently stopped working :-(

I noticed that when I turn the tv on I hear a click then screen comes on for like half a second then shuts off and the led blinks 6 times.
I did some googling and found several video's on trouble shooting all sorts of blink codes. I finally came across one that showed 6 blink error code but for a different model. It recommended disconnecting the SC board to determine if it was the A board or power...

                                      Hello all,
As the title states, I followed the troubleshooting guide located here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/23...page=53#manual, which concluded the 'A' board needs to be replaced. Looking around the net and eBay, I see that there are repair services for the board (TNPH1043UE? Not sure if it is a 'UE' as the suffix grid does not appear marked). What additional troubleshooting can be performed to ensure 1) this board is the problem and 2) since there are repair services, what are they fixing on the board?) I expected 3.3V not to be available anywhere...
