Hey there, i have a Sanyo Dp46840 that I got from my neighbor. It has two problems. The first being that the right side of the screen is darker than the left and the second being that it has horizontal lines running through the bottom half of the screen. I've taken it apart and checked the t-con board and reseated all connections and that didn't seem to fix it. Should I try a replacement T-con board? Another thought that it may be the backlight converter, but I am not entirely sure.

It's the panel. All DP46848s are junk.Comment

Re: Sanyo DP46840 - Right side of screen darker than left, horizontal lines on bottom
Alright, reseated everything, dusted everything and I do mean everything, down to the backlight inverter and now the horizontal lines are gone but the dark on the right side is still there.Comment

Re: Sanyo DP46840 - Right side of screen darker than left, horizontal lines on bottom
Since you at least managed to clear up the picture, it's probably not a fatally wounded panel, which is good.
It could be a backlight issue. Some of the backlight on the right hand side may simply not be illuminated. If it is LED, it could be some LEDs out. If it is CCFL, could be a bad tube or insufficient voltage from the inverter to the tube or leakage (arcing) of the wiring leading to that end of the tube. I've seen all of those or combinations.Comment

Re: Sanyo DP46840 - Right side of screen darker than left, horizontal lines on bottom
I saw on the sticker of the back of screen itself that its a CCFL, were it a bulb, would it be easy to replace/cost effective? I got the tv free so i don't mind spending some to fix it up if I can.Comment

Press on the tab bonds on the top of the panel. It honestly looks like a panel issue to me. Turn brightness all the way up and look at red on the picture are they bleeding or faintly smearing if so it's definitely tab bonds but just looking at the picture I can tell you It's tab bonds alreadyDid I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

Re: Sanyo DP46840 - Right side of screen darker than left, horizontal lines on bottom
I turned the brightness all the way up and now, the dark spot looks normal. I've got company over now, I'll take the panel off later and try the tabs, but hopefully its not that.Comment

Re: Sanyo DP46840 - Right side of screen darker than left, horizontal lines on bottom
And now weirdly enough after letting it stay on for abit, the screen flickered and the darkness swapped to the left side instead of the right, so i guess that rules out a bulb.Comment

Re: Sanyo DP46840 - Right side of screen darker than left, horizontal lines on bottom
I would think it is much less likely to be a tab bond issue since that's not going to magically change sides whereas a partially lit tube could flicker and blink the bright end from one end to the other, especially as the temperature changes.
You'd really have to be able to observe the tube to be sure.
Just my thoughts....Comment

shimmed a single tab bond on a jvc, is ok now, the symptom was like a dark blob moving from one side to the other, then just went dark after a while.Quit because THIS SITE LETS A ROGUE MEMBER TYPE ANY GARBAGE HE PLEASES AND THE POWERS THAT BE NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO HE NEVER QUITS. Re: Sanyo DP46840 - Right side of screen darker than left, horizontal lines on bottom
Well what'dya know..It was a tab, pressed it and it fixes itself. Already fixed it up, taped a piece of old intertube on both sides and shut it and voila, tv works. Tab was the first one on the right.Comment

by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

by IhandyrepairHi guys
I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.
never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the... -
by ggil44Hi, I have a Sony XBR-65X750D that has horizontal lines at the bottom 6 inches of the screen. These lines appear to be every other line because the picture is still quite visible behind those lines. The lines appear all the time with a few other lines above and below the 6 inch level blinking on and off at about 2 second intervals. I'm not sure if this is a panel issue or power supply/main board problem. I did replace the T-Con board without any change in the problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

by noisykid5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

by x_orange90_xI just acquired this 3D LED yesterday and it has horizontal lines on a little more than half of the screen. When I first turn it on it has thin black lines going across that makes the image look serrated, and then shortly after patterns of thicker red lines fade in. If I turn it off and right back on it will reset to just the black lines and the red will again fade onto the screen.
I initially thought tab bonds, but flexing the bezel makes no difference, and the fact the image sort of resets after cycling power is different. I haven't opened it up yet to actually test applying... - Loading...
