My next step was going to be ordering the ICs on the sustains, definitely. I actually put in an order with Digikey for some other stuff and forgot to see if they had them. Glad I forgot now. Sleep would be nice, but I think it's not happening. If I sleep now my whole schedule will be out of whack.

You ever watch EEVblog on YouTube? I've learned a ton of stuff from this guy.

He makes drag soldering look easy. Maybe it is, I haven't tried it yet. I like his reviews too. He stopped me from wasting money on some junk a couple times.

Do you know how to install the software after the ic is installed?

I'd imagine it would be downloaded to the TV from a thumb drive.

You are correct, however I need to know the steps to installing it after the flash rom has been replaced.

Have you gotten the service manual yet? And I suppose I'll need that firmware too. Do you have a link for it?

Service manual says you only have to if IC5700 is not manufacturedv by Samsung, or if the TV is a 52". I still didn't see how though. I know on some TVs, you put the new firmware on an empty USB thumb drive and, with the TV off, plug it into the TV. Then the TV will load it and update when it boots up. Not sure if Sanyo works that way. Tom66 would probably know.

I'm still waiting on the IC. If I'd known it would take over a week, I'd have just ordered it from China for a fraction of the cost.

That'd be a blank chip though?

Yeah, I think so. So then I'd have also needed to program it. How is that done, jtag?

I'm looking into a universal eeprom programmer now. Unfortunately, none of the cheap ones support this chip. Cheapest one which does is around $700. That sucks because there are some really good cheap ones for under $100. But now I'm thinking about JTAG. I see JTAG test points on the board, and eeproms can be programmed through them. I still think there must be a manual way of programming an eeprom though. If you have a datasheet, and know the pinout, it seems like it should be possible without the need for a $700 programmer. As for software, you read that from a good IC first.
