panasonic viera 42" rolling lines down screen

hi all, just bought a 42" panasonic viera tv for £20.00 as it has lines rollin down the screen from top to bottom?

anyone have any ideas how to fix this as it would be a nice set in good working order,

    i have the service manuel,

dont currently have the remote control,

i have checked for bad capasitors but cant see anything obvious,

the service manuel is available here, but you have to wait 30 seconds or so for the link to be active, its just underneath the image on the left, it will say processing untill its ready for download

thanks in advance to anyone who can help

one of the hard parts is understanding schematics, learning the symbols n such, but can be done with research and perseverance.

y-sus is the board just left of the power supply board, power supply board is the middle board.

hopefully someone can give me some direction as to where to start testing on the y sus board, or is it best to start testing psu?,
all looks good on the psu, no swolan or leaking caps

I don't know what the nature of the fault is but wouldn't hurt while your waiting for the cavalry to run the auto-gen to rule out your digital board. It's usually located beneath your main board, I can't tell from your pics though.

When I post depends entirely on when I have the time...... Tw will probably chip in later with additional info... I reckon this is an A board fault, you should access the service menu and use the test patterns feature.

Not sure what it is for this 2010 model but 2008 is this:

Hold VOL- on TV and press 0 on remote three times.
Wait for menu to appear (takes a few seconds)
Press "red" on remote a few times to select different patterns, note which, if any, are affected.

That looks like the same fault I had long time ago on a different model. If I can remember right, then it was one of the BGAs on the A board that needed to be replaced. That service manual on elektrotanya does not look right and won't be of much use. Do your TV have monitor out? If your TV have monitor out, then connect a DVD player or something like that to one of the inputs(but not HDMI because monitor out is blanked out then) and connect the monitor out to the input of another TV to see if the lines show in the monitor out picture also. I take it the TV also don't show any OSD and so you must keep one pressing the input source button until you're on the right input and see the monitor out picture

Indeed. A board issue. Could be cold solder connections on BGA chip. Try some heat on the a board. this is the boy that has a connections that plug into it from the HDMI and component and the tuner
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                                          Hi all
I have lines on the screen...which is an age old problem that can be remedied by watching Youtube videos and getting out the tape.
My issue (after successfully fixing a different sammy tv with a separate tcon board and isolating the side of the panel...):

This tv has an integrated tcon...so it is a bit more confusing when trying to isolate the clocks.
It has a c ribbon and i have taken each end out to see if that will isolate the lines. instead, it makes it much worse ALL over the tv!

So....i don't know what end of the C ribbon to work with...

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

As stated by the person I collected the TV from, it just stopped working overnight. However, I still gave it a go to try and repair it.

There is a thread on the same TV but with slightly different issues where they had to tape connection points on the ribbon cable, so I want to see if this is repairable by any chance.

After bringing it home and plugging it in, the TV turned on with its backlight working but had no picture. After removing the back cover, the first thing I tried is to unplug one of the ribbon cables and the situation is as follows.

                                          Left...

                                          Hello again everyone,

This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…

I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried...
