ok so is it just worth changing the A board for another one, rather than trying to fix it?
when you say heat, you mean like a heat gun on the undeside where its soldered?

and sorry but A board is the main one on the right hand side bottom, with the hdmi and other sockets on it?,

I Can't really say but first thing would be to identify the correct board and revision, then google away

varies from region to region but either it will be the board number TNPHxxxx Rev xx as per a legend on the board or it may be stamped or white sticker could start with TXN/xxxxxxxx

Looks like Shopjimmy in the US has some.

            http://www.shopjimmy.com/panasonic/tx-p42s20b

            TNPH0845LB

            TXN/A1LHUB

Certainly weird how this has a separate tuner board.

Separate tuner is probably for Freeview HD, which is OTA HD tuner. Pretty nice feature to have, probably a bit of a last minute thought.

Not sure what it is for this 2010 model but 2008 is this:

Hold VOL- on TV and press 0 on remote three times.
Wait for menu to appear (takes a few seconds)
Press "red" on remote a few times to select different patterns, note which, if any, are affected.

Ok did this and every step/ colour/ pattern are affected by the rolling lines Dow the screen, they do not go away at all!!
                Does this help any?

Well, it doesn't eliminate anything unfortunately, it could be the main board or something else, going by the symptoms alone it looks a lot like a main board fault, difficult to determine exactly where.

So it's probably best just to change it completely?

Could you check the monitor out picture? If the lines appear in the monitor out picture also, then it confirms the A board is faulty. Would you be able to get the correct service manual and do you have equipment to replace BGAs or know somebody that does? If not, then getting another A board would probably be your best choice

Most TVs supporting "monitor out" (unless they directly support DTV or HDMI out) aren't reprocessing the signal, they're just re-routing the signal internally, so it's hard to say if that would confirm any particular issue.

Sorry no I don't think it has monitor out, and I have no way of doing ball grid array re work or replacement, (googled BGA lol), is it possible it is just one bad IC on the A board causing the problems? A mean is there one main one or a few?

                            Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                            by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                            Hi all
I have lines on the screen...which is an age old problem that can be remedied by watching Youtube videos and getting out the tape.
My issue (after successfully fixing a different sammy tv with a separate tcon board and isolating the side of the panel...):

This tv has an integrated tcon...so it is a bit more confusing when trying to isolate the clocks.
It has a c ribbon and i have taken each end out to see if that will isolate the lines. instead, it makes it much worse ALL over the tv!

So....i don't know what end of the C ribbon to work with...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                            by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

As stated by the person I collected the TV from, it just stopped working overnight. However, I still gave it a go to try and repair it.

There is a thread on the same TV but with slightly different issues where they had to tape connection points on the ribbon cable, so I want to see if this is repairable by any chance.

After bringing it home and plugging it in, the TV turned on with its backlight working but had no picture. After removing the back cover, the first thing I tried is to unplug one of the ribbon cables and the situation is as follows.

                            Left...

                            by Chrissygizmo
                            Hello again everyone,

This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…

I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried...
