    Samsung PN58A55081FXZA. Is it hopeless?

So I have been working on this TV for probably 6 months on my off time. Had to trace down a PS issue. Finally got it fixed and powered up and had some no picture areas. turn out the flex cable on the panel was loose. Reseated them, but still had 2 one or so pixel wide green bars but really wasn't very noticeable at all. This wasn't even a week ago. Then last night the area behind the green lines went black. Thought maybe I didn't seat the flex cable right. Pulled the back off, reseated the cable multiple times, and this is all I can get.

Is it hopeless? Think I might get lucky and get a use panel somewhere? Appears to be part # BN96-05638C or replacement BN96-14645A.

    What exactly caused this?

Man what a bummer. All that work for 5 days of use.

With the panel off reseat the smaller copper colored ribbon cable on the buffer that is inline with the void area.

Also a quick test take a toothpick and gently rub the afflicted area ribbon cable while the panel is on to see if the void area changes colors ect. Do this at the top lock connecter touching the toothpick to the ribbon cable.

Pushing the cable affected it a little bit but not much

Did you clean the connectors/cables with alcohol yet before reseating ?

Ok, so that means it's working, clean that ribbon and dabble some alcohol inside the ribbon connector.

I cleaned it earlier with alcohol didn't seem to matter.

Also, I just noticed - right above the 2 cables that are giving me trouble, the metal bracket/frame is noticeably hotter than the rest of the top of the unit if that makes any sense.

            Thanks

Maybe the buffer board is bad, the heat is Probaby the ICs in the ribbons working hard. Might be a failed panel too.

I swapped the buffer boards around with the lower one - no difference. I edited previous post with image.

                Thanks

You didn't happen to try to disconnect this cable connection with the tv on did you? That will kill a chip on film ic..

Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Try directing cool air at that location and see if it changes the screen output. If you removed that heatsink perhaps it was not reinstalled properly.

@mmartell OK I'll try that. I didnt remove heatsink. At least not on purpose. Where is it?

The aluminum bar at the ends of your two red arrows in the picture is one long heatsink. It wicks away the heat from the cof's on the ribbons plugged into those bottom address buffers.
