    Re: Ps50q96hd

That'd be what i'd be looking foe especially upper buffer and also check ymain , 80n30w FETs usually short with a bad bufferunless there's a mainboard issue.

Check Vscan & Vset on Y-main.

      Any panel glow at all?

Check LED on Y-main, can you see one lit up?

Is LED on control board blinking?

Vscan is 094 cant find Vset ?
        no glow from the panel
no LED is lit up on the Y-main
        LED control yes is blinking
also i have a spare main board tried that but still the same

Vscan at 94V is bad, indicates possibly shorted Y-buffer. Does it change when Y-buffers are removed?

I'm not sure why the Vscan is going away when you pull the buffers. If you power-cycle the TV can you test it quickly on volt range, see if it spikes up then turns off maybe?

Not really sure what to make of that but definitely something wrong with the Y-main. I second tw2005's suggestion to check for shorts on the transistors etc.

You may have more than one fault. PSU continually clicking may suggest the Vs / va ccts have now blown on the PSU.

if they have not blown, may be an idea to reflow the fets on the heat sinks on the PSU.

i've got one of these that has blown upper buffer, blown the ymain & has blown the the vs and Va lines on the PSU and continually clicks.

3 most common faults with that series are those 3 items. AFAIK the PSu repair is not just a case of replacing the FETs, there's a bunch of SMD transistors and diodes etc underneath that go too. Not sure but they do get dry/fractured joints on the FEts and i suspect that is when the PSU blows.

Maybe some pictures of the ymain blown solder issue would be handy as that sounds unusual.

                                      Hi all,

I'm interested in understanding how a buffer board chip is working. I know there's about 90 outputs per chip to the plasma panel, but I'm more interested to know about the input pins. I guess that some of them are address pins, but I want to know more.

So far I've found nothing at all. I haven't found any datasheet about the various buffer chips, and I haven't found any schematic for the buffer board using them (Y Buffer Board in Samsung's terminology).

Any information will make me happy. It can be from any buffer chip or plasma TV manufacturer....

LG42PC3D -UD originally with green lamp but no display or audio.
Owner says was working, then went 'pop'.
                                      All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.

Y scan buffer test point does not follow YSUS output below -50V

Note: This unit seems to expect YSUS output to park at -Vy in between
drive signal pattern periods. A replacement drive signal board confirms this....

The primary voltage is 480 single phase the second voltage needed is 60 volts

Now it could be 30 volts 0 volts 30 volts preferred

Or it could be 60 volts 0 volts 60 volts and just use one side of

Output amp need to be at least 30

Dose anyone know where I can find one

This is what is the device I am working on

The problem with this one is that it is over heating and smelling like it is over heating
