Seen anything like this before ?

Samsung plasma PN58B560. Was told it happened "when moving". The black portion continues to slowly creep upwards.

Bad panel I would guess ?

Yep. Micro fracture slowly leaking gas. Happens on LG's 32" panels too. Rare fault though.

Definitely a fracture, have read about it, never seen it

Nasty, would this more likely be caused by a manufacturing defect or damage from a hit?

That is not a manufacturing fault it is due to set not being handled correctly

The LG one may be a spontaneous failure due to manufacturing defect. The Kuro is definitely impact damage - there are scan lines damaged too...

Overall, it's very rare.
