@triplefour, After i unplugged the 3 pin connector i would plug the TV in and the back light would come on and stay on until the please wait screen would pop on for a second and then the TV would turn off and start the process over again

I noticed on my old main board that CP36 a 470 uf @ 35V was bulging, may have been the problem in the first place.
My original symptom is green light comes on in front, about 7 sec later flashes please wait and power light goes out and starts all over.

well maybe whoever u got the board from is shady? or didnt test fully?

mine was missing the IR/LED board so i dont know anything about what the LED might think its doing in my case...
i bet someone on this forum has a working one to test what happens under normal operation if u unplug the inverter, but will they see this thread???

when i unplug my 3pin connector i get a different result. the backlight flashes for an instant as soon as i press power. all voltages on the board come up..and it stays "on" until i press power. but at no time does the backlight flash again, or do i see "please wait" or can i press input to hear my n64...or see any video by using a flashlight...
i found that other fuse with the D on it and tested it.
it came in at 1.0 ohms....thats some resistance, where there should be none, right?
could this fuse be my problem?


when u are talking about unplugging your 3 pin connector, are you talking about on the original main board, or the new one? or both? do they both do the same thing?

Sorry for the delay, i have been working on my advanced digital circuits school work. With my old board i would unplug the 3 pin connector and plug in the TV and when i would plug it in it would instantly turn on the back light and then after a few seconds flash please wait, turn off and start over. With my new board 3 pin connector unplugged, I can plug the TV in and then press the power button to turn the TV on. The TV now keeps the back light on until I press the power button again to turn the TV of, but no longer flashes the please wait screen. Also I ordered the new main board from (paylesscomponents) which came with a 30 money back guarantee. But since the new board allows the back light to remain on until the power button is pressed again, I may try to find an older LCD computer monitor which I am not using that has the same LVDS connector so that I can have a simple work around until we can figure out a solution.

wow u can do that? as long as they use the same connector from the mainboard to the tcon?

and what if u plug in the mainboard, and everything is the same, then u have a bad panel or something else?...how can u return the mainboard if there is nothing wrong with it?

Well it seems that the new main board had a small whole in one of the caps so I should be able to return it based on that, but it does give me better functionality than my old main board. Enough functionality that i would be able to swap the LVDS cable for a different input... which i almost forgot to thank you for that service manual, I think I saw somewhere in the manual which had the LVDS outputs from the main board which if i have those I should be able to make a different board work.

are u talking about using a mainboard from anothther tv or monitor to output to the insignias TCON? and maybe having to rewire the lvds connector to fit the pinout of the insignia?

...and u would be powering this mainboard...with its own power supply, correct?

yes, I just tried to use the inputs from another main board to inject the signals into the insignia's tcon board and it did not work, although I forgot to check that the pin outs were the same because of excitement that i found a board which had the same LVDS connector. yes i had both systems plugged in at the same time(2 separate power plugs).

You also must verify the feeding voltage from the main board since some panel may use 5VDC, some may use 12V so you can easily damage the T-CON or the main board, and if the pin outs are not the same, the Voltage out put may be grounded out by the pins on the T-CON board.

It appear's to be functioning as it was before, with both the new main board and the old. Now that I look at the power board, it does seem that there are 2 x 1000uf caps which seem to be slightly bulging, but i am still getting all of the proper output voltages on the board. would I still get proper voltages if the caps were bad?

You can correct voltage but under load the voltage will not be maintain.

The voltages are not dropping at all after turned on, but I am still at a loss for what the problem could be. Now that I have printed out the service manual I am going to start over and try to see if the insignia trouble shooting guides help at all.
