I have a Panasonic TH-P42X10Z Plasma Television (2009-era; New Zealand model).
This set has proven to be extremely reliable throughout its +16-year lifespan. However, late last year, when going to use the TV, I noticed a 9-blink red LED error code on the front of the set after the television failed to turn on. A quick Google search revealed that this indicates a problem with the set’s main A-board.
After opening up the set and giving the board a thorough test with my digital multimeter, I found that one of the integrated circuits on the board has shorted. Specifically, IC2960.
The A board’s model number is TNPH0783. IC2960 is located beside the RF tuner on the board.
I have attached to this post a screenshot of the official schematic for the board highlighting IC2960 as well as a photograph of the IC itself. I was wondering if any forum members would happen to know anything more about this particular IC's manufacturer or specifications? I would ideally like to replace the shorted IC, and restore the otherwise functioning board to get the set up and running again.
Either that, or I would have to replace the board entirely. However, due to the age of the set, finding a working second-hand board is proving to be a bit more difficult.
