    bought new Power Board, can't test Main Board - need help using MultiMeters

    TV Model is Vizio GV42L and replaced the Power Board w/one working on eBay, VIZIO logo turns orange like before

    my Dad was in electronics for 30+ years and brought me 3 Multi Meters and i want to test the voltage regulators but searched extensively and still can't figure them out

    can someone please tell me how to use any one of these to measure this Main board

    I'd use the middle one...

    Keep probes like they are.
    Set meter to 20V DC (the symbol with one solid line, one dashed line.)

    Place the black probe on the TV chassis, this is your ground reference for now.
    Place the red probe on each pin going to the main board in succession. Note the readings (post them here) and compare to the label.
    Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

            i looked at some of those w/one of the most helpful being NorCal but even then after searching about exactly how to use these multimeters, i did not find a video

            besides, the 4 22 Inch Samsung Monitors i had, i came on here back in 2011 and BadCaps was to say the least a god send

            a BadCaps Member from Europe was even kind enough to send me CCFLs Bulbs, for free...from Europe!

            thats why i wanted to wait w/these noob type questions but TVs are vastly different from Monitors yet similar in many ways that talking w/members is again, proving to be the best solution

              Re: bought new Power Board, can't test Main Board - need help using MultiMeters

              k got the numbers but the mutli meter was -0.04?

              1.
              pin 1 = 1.56
              pin 2 = 0.00
              pin 3 = 1.05

              2
              pin 1 = 1.25
              pin 2 = 0.00
              pin 3 = 1.38

              3
              pin 1 = 1.44
              pin 2 = 0.00
              pin 3 = 1.05

              4
              pin 1 = 1.45
              pin 2 = 0.00
              pin 3 = 1.04

              5
              pin 1 = 2.25
              pin 2 = 0.00
              pin 3 = 0.74

              6 question, this one has 3 pins but the middle one is not solder?

                Re: bought new Power Board, can't test Main Board - need help using MultiMeters

                not 100% sure if i did the readings correct 1st time so put ground on chassis and measured:

                1.
                pin = 2.58
                pin = 0.98
                pin = 0.00

                2.
                pin = 2.58
                pin = 1.16
                pin = 0.00

                3.
                pin = 4.07
                pin = 2.58
                pin = 0.00

                4.
                pin = 4.08
                pin = 2.58
                pin = 1.58

                5.
                pin = 4.07
                pin = 1.77
                pin = 1.07

                6.
                pin = 0.00
                pin = 0.00
                pin = 0.00

                so 6 is blown for sure?

                  Please write down the P/N of each one of those regulators so we will know what they are, for example 1117-1.8, or 1117.
                  There also two SMD fuses on the board that you should check also, one is for 5V, another one is for the switched 12V.
                  Those 4.07/8 reading are not normal, I expect 5V reading. Is the meter good?

                        OK, the one with 1117s15 is the 1.5V fixed output voltage regulator, the other are Adjustable output regulators.
                        But which two are the 1117s15?

                          The 4V input voltage is not right, it is too low.
                          Check the voltage of the both SMD fuses at both ends against the chassis ground, if one of them shows 4V then you will have to fix the 5VSTBY power supply first.

                              Did you do as I requested on checking the voltages on the fuses?
                              The 4V input voltage is not right, it is too low.
                              Check the voltage of the both SMD fuses at both ends against the chassis ground, if one of them shows 4V then you will have to fix the 5VSTBY power supply first.
                              sry for being a noob but can you point out in the pic where the fuses are? i've seen norcals vid a number of times but wanna make sure n thanks for being so helpful

                                They are just below the connector circled in red. They are labelled F1, F2, etc. I can only see 2, but the flash on the camera might be obscuring another one? A good fuse should measure less than 1.0 ohms.

                                    Well, did you check the voltages at the fuses? the reading of 4V feeding voltage to the regulator is too low for the 5V Standby Voltage.

                                          I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                                          Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                                          I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                                          The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                                          With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

                                          Hi everyone,

                                          I’m looking for help with a persistent issue on an LG TV model 55NANO77SRA, which uses the main board EBU66792103 (also used in LG UQ80 and NANO75/NANO80 series).

                                          🧩 Problem Summary:
                                          • The TV keeps scrolling through the menu or selecting items by itself.
                                          • I removed the physical button board (the entire panel with power and volume buttons) and also disconnected the flat cable (CN202) from the main board.
                                          • The remote control is not in use (batteries removed), and the TV still shows the same behavior.
                                          • I

                                          Issue: No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

                                          Short answer: replace main board and power board
                                          Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

                                          Long answer:

                                          TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....

                                          I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
                                          Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...

                                          Schematics for the main board needed please. Sticker on board states BN94-07517A but the silkscreen says BN41-02157B. Cant find here or anywhere on the web.

                                          Backlights work when main boards disconnected. When connected and power button switched, the relay on the PSU board turns on for one second then back off.
                                          While relay is on, all voltage rails are present and steady (scoped) on main board.
