    Lg 60pc1d, Occasional green artifacts

Hello all, Through the help of this forum the first tv I fixed (about 4 years ago) is a LG 60PC1D. Plasma's generate a lot more heat than the little fans can remove, after replacing three over heated/failed boards I tapped in to the existing fan wires and added two more fans (lots of room, may add another while solving the current problem) It has begun to show green artifacts, Usually on peoples foreheads, most noticeable in the upper left quadrant, but also noticed a intermittent green line (never solid) about 5 inches long, left of center, halfway up the screen. Neither of these issues are constant and I will have to watch to see how long it takes to begin occuring. I have read the other post on an LG with green artifacts and will open the tv later this week to begin cleaning and checking voltages and for hot spots.
    Thanks

I'm sorry that I can't help with your issue but wanted to thank you for the info on the fans. I also have a 60PC1D and lost a Z-SUS board. I'm still working on that and have started a thread here on it recently.

Anyway, I replaced the fan near the Y-SUS board. I bought two fans and since there are standoffs near the Z-SUS as if they intended to put a fan there. I will mount the second fan there near the Z-SUS board and intended to just tap into the 12V from the large squirrel-cage fan cable. Which fan cable did you splice off of?

    Thanks!

    Cary

I think I tapped two off of the squirrel cage and one off the fan on the right. I have one blowing directly on the T-con. Both the ysus and tcon were smoked when I got the tv. Everything I read said a major cause of these failures was too much heat.

Forgot to add. I salvaged my fans from some defunct computers and power supplies. All 12 volt and nice and quiet, and found a variety of sizes to try. When I open it this time I plan on replacing them with LED lighted fans, makes a good visual indicator that the fans are working.

Your fault could be one of two things:
          - Maldischarge - in particular if it seems to follow objects that lit up - e.g. trailing motion
          - Loose LVDS cable between main board and control/logic board

Thanks, It does not follow the image. Plan on taking it off the wall tonight.
