    Yes, indeed!

nomoresonys: I was not sure which way would be best. After lotas pointed out why moving IC1603 would be a solution I will try replacing it.

I guess there is no other way to flash that IC with different T-CON data (e.g. via USB stick)? I have done so before with a philips tv.

And lotas: I agree with your observation. Board A does not show any signs of burnt components and the whole TV is quite dirty and might have been in a kitchen with smokers.

And also for different panel models (manufacturers) on the motherboard in the T-CON area there are positional resistors, jumpers and they also need to be rearranged, as on the original board, put both boards in front of you and compare all the places and set them as they were on the original, here is an example that I noticed...

Well that would sure be a lot easier if it works.

The distorted picture (board B) has an offset to the bottom and displays many more vertical lines
I did take over the service panel type from board A (which is the original board for that panel) and set it in board B without noticeable change.

I could try to move the resistor from position 3 (distorted) to position 1 - or would there be more differences between the two boards?
That would be easier than replacing an IC.
What I can tell: the working board from a curved mu6279 has its resistor at position 1 like board A.

@lotas: Could you explain why replacing the IC1603 in your post #3 would help getting rid of the distortion?
First and foremost, is your screen actually this blue? Or is this the distortion you're referring to? If it's appearing blue then you have bad backlights. Are you not able to source a replacement board from eBay or elsewhere? Moving the chip from one board to another is much more effort than it's worth, especially if you DO have bad backlights on top of it.

I had a Philips that did exactly what you're talking about. It would not save any changes I made. I would delete the Google account tied to it, reboot or and the account was there again. The tv would also randomly freeze up and reboot itself, sometimes successfully, other times not. It was due to a failed Hynix NAND which are pretty notorious for premature failure. Replacing the board entirely fixed the issue (a later revision with a different manufacturer of NAND).

i insist to say it must be tested every supply rail, for the emmc the VCC, VCCQ, VDD , a low 3,3v maybe can make reads but not writes, another issue can be in the user partition, it can have structure problem so it is not mounted at start, you can try search for the debug port and connect it to PC with terminal program to see the log..

leds are ok because of the pictures of original MB working, swapping a sop8 is a very easy job and worths for a 32" chinese tv, let's figure it for a 55" Samsung..

That colour is default on Samsung TVs and is not related to aging LEDs.
I just learned even though the Board ID can be the same it does have slight differences between models and the distortion in displaying the picture might come from resistors at different places or the tcon would need a reflash or be replaced.

Having searched for a board I noticed people tend to demand quite high prices. So the idea of getting a cheap TV with a broken display seems to me a good alternative to buying a used mainboard from e.g. ebay.

The one board which can not save it configuration would work perfectly.

I can do the testing - if only one could point me to the right IC - which one is the emmc storing the configuration? And if the voltages are correct I could still use the emmc from an other board.

This eMMC, if there is equipment and stencils for dismantling and mounting it, and also the software version must correspond to the software version of SPI Flash 25Q40.

If those bloches are really nicotine signs then i expect bga are in bad condition for soldering, not a good start, if you find another board is the best..

I've never heard such a thing. Blue image is bad LEDs. I've replaced enough of them to spot them a mile away. See the attached photos of the same welcome screen as yours from a tv with good backlights, and the image of a Samsung I had with bad ones.

With the back cover removed and the tv on, is the light you see through the little holes blue, or is it white?

orange90, check past posts, as you can see there are photos of replacement board with blue tint and many defects, other photos of original board (service menu) where colors are as expected.. the op declares original board image good, so that's all.

The service menu photo is blue also. I see no other screen photos on this thread that would appear normal.

If OP can confirm the lights shine blue through the holes on the back then it's settled. I'm only stating this because unless they truly can't tell the difference, they'll end up investing too much time and money into fixing the other issue when backlights also need replacing.

Of course photos are not that good but watching the writes they appears almost white, the background is the common Samsung test image where you see the light blue sky
