    Samsung 32in Plasma advice

    Hi guys

I have a 32in Samsung Plasma that had 2 bad caps. I've replaced the 10v for 25v x 2, but the problem persisted. I checked my soldering which is OK - then did a factory reset, which has made it a lot better - but 15min in, the screen starts blinking out (still with sound) then eventually it will switch to standby mode.

Before I did the reset, auto tuning for channels made it go into standby. It wouldn't go all the way without shutting off. Now I can get 15min into a programme after setup, so I must be getting somewhere. I can hear some squealing during the glitching though which is a bit worrying.

So my question is, what next? EEPROM flush? Also is a factory reset via remote lesser than an EEPROM reset or is it the same thing? Anything else likely to hamper me?

I have a multimeter if there's anything I need to test. First go you see...

    Thanks in advance,
    John

We need the full model number and the number of the power supply at least.
ideally we like pics one of the whole of the back of the set so we can see what goes where then picture of the power supply and maybe more later.
Post them using Manage attachments jpgs 3mb or less are good
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

As far as I am aware, Samsung never produced a 32" plasma TV; are you perhaps referring to a Samsung 32" LCD TV?

Hi guys and thanks for getting back to me.

I was merely asking is a factory reset via remote control the same as flushing EEPROM, or do I still have the option of an EEPROM reset at my disposal?

I will update this with the relevant model # and pics in a few hours when I'm home so I can take it further - but I doubt this is a model specific question. Tom: It could well be LCD, I've just always had a Phillips 42pf9966 plasma, so it was force of habit, sorry, will rectify!

        Thanks in advance

        John

Hi guys it is LCD - Samsung LE32A336J1D. Can't get a full photo of main board just yet though. Have a few close ups of the caps I did, that's about it.

Factory reset will reset to settings for LE32A336
EEPROM reset will reset to basic chassis settings which will then need adjustment for LE32A336

A more common fault on these (rather than bad caps) is a failed poly cap on the power supply primary side. This can cause the symptom you observe.

Oh right, thanks for the heads-up. It does seem like it would be power related, I was going to follow the squeal if I didn't work it out!

I will get in there and check asap. Nice one

Can you repost your pictures using Manage attachments as I asked you in post 2 then ask mod to delete the online ones by clicking on the red triangle with an exclamation mark.
Reason -they take ages to load and as the thread goes on they have to be waded through each time it is opened. Also we like pictures to remain in the thread to help others in future.

First job after that is to remove the glue - it turns brown and becomes conductive and corrosive.

Ah Selldoor thanks, sorry I used a set from anony.ws then when I saw it resized one I figured the server had it sorted.
I shall do sir. Thx for the heads up on the glue too! I will try and get this thread removed completely and start again!
