I have an Akai LCT2715 that I repaired the power supply on previously, maybe a year ago I think. It's been working fine but I don't use it much. I recently noticed a buzzing coming from the speakers even if the volume is turned down. I saw it suggested somewhere that it could be a filter capacitor issue. I could not remember if I replaced all the caps on this board when I did the original repair or just the faulty ones.
So I decided to take it back apart again and take a look. The design on this board was less than ideal. It's mounted so that there are about 5 connectors of wires at the top, where all the heat rises and there are a bunch of capacitors. So the connectors get brittle and some of the wires were even discolored with heat.
Anyway, one of the connectors broke a bit as it was being pulled out. I was thinking I could maybe use some sugru, or some kind of hardening putty to insulate between the two pin sockets and that would prevent any short. Otherwise, I have no idea where to source either another connector, or a set of wires for it.
Have any of you repaired these connector types before? In the picture below, the connector in question is blocked in red. The board side is fine. (And this picture is not of the actual PS, this was grabbed from instructables. That's why the caps are bad.)
I guess if I had to I could just remove the connector and try direct soldering the wires, but I'm sure the holes would be too small.
Any ideas?
