OK, place the red probe on the copper area marked in red. Then run the black probe along the ribbon connector contacts. Try not to miss any.

Your meter should be on the beep mode - i.e. when you touch the probes together it should beep.

You only need to do this on the upper buffer board. The lower is OK.

So am I looking for continuity across all contacts?

        You should get no continuity.
I am fairly sure your top buffer is bad, but this is additional information which will confirm it.

On the left set of terminals there was no continuity but some terminals when tested gave a 1 on my multimeter and some gave varying numbers 476 589 etc.

OK, that is a bad board. They are not dead short but they are leaky. So I would say you can just go and replace the top buffer board to fix this problem.

Middle ribbon connector contacts all gave varying numbered readings and not one 1 reading

The left hand ribbon connector is right where the lines are horizontally on the TV as well does that make sense?

Can you try reversing the red and black probes and do the test again?

Hm, no shorts. Well, I would say replace the board anyway, given the fault symptoms. I can't see any other part causing it. Wish I could be more conclusive, though.

                          eBay, FlatTVParts, RecyclingLives, ...
There are many, but getting the part may be tricky.
There is an LG distributor selling a new part for about £70 all in.

Just search for your EBR number printed on the sticker.
                                e.g. EBR123456789

If the Y-sustain and control board have the same part numbers it should work OK.
Sordids is correct it can cause issues though I am not aware of it affecting LG, only Samsung and Panasonic, you will be taking a risk...

Hello esteemed members. I appreciate that my question will strike some as being somewhat childishly simple, but it genuine perplexes me! I have repaired several laptops before by removing a faulty capacitor that was short-circuiting the motherboard, whereupon the laptop would then work. For me, it begs the question that, if the current can bypass where the capcitor was when it has been removed, why didn't it just bypass it when it was present and faulty,? I can't get my head round the premise that if the other side of the capacitor is connected to ground, then why doesn't the current simply bypass...

                                          Hello.
I have an Acer Aspire A317-53 laptop with faulty onboard ram modules, after online searches, I have only found two options to get it working :
                                          - first one is to modify le bios to disable the onboard ram.
                                          - second one is to disable the onboard ram by desoldering some components on the mainboard.

so after some hours google-ing, i have to give-up the modified bios option, main reason is I couldn't find anywhere a such modified Bios, alternate reason is that if windows update makes a bios update, the problem is always here...

so i found that my motherboard...

Purchased a Ryobi 36V 6Ah battery pack maybe just over a year ago.

Battery pack had been used on about 3 or 4 occasions for powering a cordless lawnmower. I was wanting to use this battery pack again recently, but on checking the battery charge state via the battery pack test button, there was no LED indication at all of charge state which suggested the pack was fully discharged.

I found this to be odd as I usually fully recharge battery packs shortly after use. So either the pack developed some sort of fault which completely discharged the pack cells (after recharging),...

                                          Hello everyone,

I've been encountering some perplexing issues with my ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1660 Ti Gaming OC and am seeking insights or potential solutions from the community.

                                          Symptoms:

Initially experienced a gradient-style black screen from the top.
Poor performance: ~10 FPS on the lock screen.
Encountered artifacts followed by black screens.
After addressing a PSU-related problem, still observed a performance drop (~10 FPS).
                                          Upon using GPU-Z:
                                          Memory size shows as 0MB.
Unknown bus width and bandwidth reported....

Faulty memory slot on Tekram Slot 1 motherboard
                                          by Byte_76
I have a Tekram P6PRO-A5 Rev. 1.01 which has an issue with one of the memory slots and with the floppy port.

When a memory module is installed into the slot which is closest to the north bridge, the board will beep and won't post. The same memory module works in the two remaining slots.

Also, the floppy drive does not work regardless of bios settings.

Please help me to identify the possible cause of the faulty memory slot and the floppy drive port as well.

I have examined the board under my digital microscope and did not find any broken traces....
