Vizio E320-A1 32"LED not turning on

Got tv from a friend, and it's not turning on

When first plugged in, white light on bottom goes on, then fades out and no light are present.

When power button is hit, the same white light goes on and stays on, but nothing else happens.

Not getting any power at any of the terminals leaving the board to go to other boards.

Noticed this tv has a problem with eeprom on mainboard, and it is a common issue, there is one eeprom on mainboard that has mark where others are clean, so think this may be part of issue. But don't know how to even find eeprom chip to solder in.

Please let me know what i should be testing for.

Shopjimmy sells EEPROM if that is the problem:

Re: Vizio E320-A1 32"LED not turning on

        Update

was checking electric, and nothing seemed to be testing right.

No standby power, and power coming in was testing from tv ground screw to line was 63 volts, and from tv ground screw to neutral 53 volts, got 118 when neutral and line tested together.

Then i checked a pipe above work area to ground because it was only other ground my multimeter could reach, and it tested continuous to a ground from an outlet. between pipe and line into tv i get 118v.

When i tested using pipe as ground and touched the ground screw on the tv i got 54v, same to the tv case. When i tested it to neutral and line it read correct, 0v and 118v respectively. when i tested my pipe ground to the ground on pins leading out i have 54v and it is the same with all the other pins leading out.

Seems somewhere power is leaking to ground bad because this is weird, not sure if it is the original eeprom problem i thought, or if there is a short to ground somewhere in ps that isnt' blowing fuse

Re: Vizio E320-A1 32"LED not turning on

When you work in the primary side (hot side) of the power supply, the DC circuit ground ref will be the negative leg of the main filter cap. The DC voltage on the TWO LEGS of the MAIN filter cap should have about 165~170VDC. The chassis can be used for ground ref. point for the secondary side of the circuit, not for primary side.
Since you do have indicator VIZIO, it means that the 5VSTBY is more likely to be OK. Right now the problem is in your main board.

Re: Vizio E320-A1 32"LED not turning on

I am having my multimeter jump between OL and 8.xx v on the main capacitor, and the whole chassis and all pins going out are reading 54v just from being plugged in, don't even have main board plugged into ps. pretty sure something is wrong on ps.

since i was having an issue with testing using chassis or screw as ground, i started to use a copper waterpipe that runs above my head. the copper pipe tested continuous with outlet ground. so when i have the black lead on a grounded pipe, and the red lead on each of the pins leading out of ps or on the chassis itself, my meter reads 54v

All i am getting is confused.

I did test from chassis screw to secondary side and am not getting voltage out of any of the pins

There is no ground wire coming into tv is just Neutral and Line.

When i use the neutral, an outlet ground, or the pipe above my head and have the other lead on the chassis or chassis screw it reads 54 volts, same with the pins on secondary side. If i have my black lead in an outlet ground and red lead on the chassis or pins, should i be getting 54v?

Here is the clue, this TV dose not have safety Ground wire to the chassis since it only uses two-wires, there are safety (X/Y) caps from L and N to the chassis.
                                    That is it for me.

First of:you insulted budm, that will get you nowhere as he is one of our most knowledgeable members here, you should listen to him,he's trying to help you..
second:you get no secondairy reading from a screw to an outpin pin,PROBABLY CAUSE THERE IS A FAULT IN THE PSU,and.....they where trying to help you on that.
Third:FORGET your copper pipe, your psu creates its own floating ground,it has NOTHING to do with your house ground...
We can't help you if you keep being stuck on your own ground copper pipe etc...And to be honest, you saying you know how to use a meter and whatnot,I don't believe you cause you keep proving to us that your method of measuring is WRONG..!!!
I think your only option is to apologize to budm, and MAYBE you get the proper help here...
                                      Till then...............good luck..........

(here is no need for you to teach me, i know how to use my multimeter and test voltages, but am getting fucked up readings, no need to be a tool and act pompous with that above quote. When i test ground to neutral i get no voltage, when i test ground to line i get 118v, when i test ground to chassis I GET 54V)

This dude must be kidding with us all here in the forum?

Damaged EEPROM on TV Vizio E320-A0
                                          by edgarmg15
                                          Hi everyone

Iยดm trying to repair a TV Vizio E320-A0 that I found in the street

The symptoms are it doesn't respond with remote or buttons, the LED indicator is always off and also there is no image on the TV.

The power supply board works fine (I probed the terminals with my multimeter) but in the main board the EEPROM doesn't works correctly because the voltage on the pins doesn't match with the parameters of the datasheet.

So, Iยดm going to replace the EEPROM with a new one, but the problem is that my programmer (CH341a)...

Hi, i just received this P1 gen 3 and started troubleshooting it, and im encountering a very bizzarre behaviour which i cannot find any info or example about:

The laptop doesnt turn on, you do get amber light on the charger led and both the power button and lid led blinks 3 times like described on the manual when the machine is plugged into power. but nothing else. Same behaviour when trying charging when either of the two usb-c ports or the proprietary DCIN connector.

I proceeded removing cmos battery and main battery to try and see if it would change anything, but nothing....

Vizio E550i-A0 no power, no standby light
                                          by x_orange90_x
I have a Vizio E550i-A0 that will not power on. It also does not display the standby light in the corner. I disconnected the main board cable to see if the backlights would light but they did not (maybe this is normal for this set?). I checked the voltages on the plug and they all read in mV or 0, so there's no voltage there. The fuses are ok, and the voltages of the 450v caps read about 160v. I see no visual damage on either the power supply or main board. I have read online that the main board is usually the culprit in this model, but not getting backlights with the main disconnected makes me...

                                          by Phil289
                                          Hi
I aquired a Samsung UE46EH5000 from a lady that said it was turning on and off so she just purchased a new one.
On plugging into the mains and turning on i get a solid red light.
On using the on/off button or remote i just get a flashing red light in a pattern of flash/flash gap flash/flash gap flash/flash etc.
Opened it up and disconnected the main board from the power board by removing the connecting ribbon cable with the hope of getting either a 'no backlight' or a 'working backlight' but got neither,i just got a blinking backlight that turned on and off randomly...
