Hey folks,
I've got a Sharp LC-46D92U LCD TV that a friend asked if I could look at. He found it on the curb in his neighborhood. I've done some troubleshooting but I'm rapidly exceeding my limits.
Originally, the problem was simply no picture. The backlight did illuminate and there it was producing sound, so I went poking around the Timing control board. I found a SMD fuse that checked bad. I didn't have a replacement and we had zero invested in this thing, so I jumped the fuse. I hoped it was simply a fuse that died. Well, of course, that apparently wasn't the case. When we turned the TV on, we heard a pop and let the magic smoke out of something.
Now the set will not turn on and the power LED blinks four times. Checking the service manual, that indicated a "Trident IC operation failure". I figured that I fried the main board. I broke down and ordered a new main board and a timing control board which came with the frame rate control board included.
I installed all three. The unit still will not power up and is now blinking the power led (blue) twice and the OPC LED (green) three times. The manual says that indicates "DET_6V (pin 56) failure (L). D5V or A5V is not applied".
There appear to be three connectors on the power supply. One leading to the inverters and two leading to the main board. One 12 pin and one 6 pin. The 12 pin connector voltages are good, but I'm not sure what I should be reading on some of the 6 pin connections. (PS_ON, AC_DET, PNL_PWR, etc).
Am I looking in the right place?
Service manual is too large to attach, but can be found here.
Connectors in question appear on pg 154.
Thanks for any help!
