Panasonic TC-P50G15 3 Red Blinks (need the quick and dirty) details inside!

    Hey friends,

I snagged one of these units super cheap, it appears to be in pretty good condition other then the stand has a small chunk of plastic broken off.

Anyway when I powered on the unit the red LED was solid then started to blink 3 times pause, blinked 3 more times so on and so on.

This error code points to the A board (main board) being the fault.

Now my question is, The only place that I can find the main board is ModusLink PST and they want 198.00 for it, being that they have a 35% off sale till after the 4th it brings it down to 125.00.

I have not taken the back off and I probably will not have time till I get back on Sunday, I don't know the exact model number of the mainboard but there only appears to be one for this unit and that's what makes it so hard to come by according to Moduslink.

I just want to know before I pull the trigger on this, with a 3 red fault Panny could there be other issues that would case the main board to fault? I did not see any cracked on the screen proper or on the edges and corners.

My budget on fixing these units usually is around 50-60 a little more depending but this is a huge risk for something I know nothing about its history.

I know this is a decent unit and probably worth fixing but I have yet to dive into a Panasonic.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the shooting in the dark questions!

try disconnecting A31,A32,A33,SC2,SS11,P35 and turn on. See if it still SOS3. Let the power bleed off before you reconnect SC2,ss11 and P35 so nothing gets a spike.

I will do that when I get back from our weekend getaway, I went ahead and ordered the board anyway since it was 35% off and if the panel ends up being toast I know I can sell the mainboard as they are highly sought after being that its the ONLY main board for this panel no substitutes at all.. or return it for 20% restocking fee if needed.

      Thanks!

So I got the new mainboard in today, and. Hooked it up and I got 3 blinks with a quick Bzzzz from the ps.

Then I disconnected all the things above and when I powered the unit on I got a solid red LED.

So something else must be bad, what do I do next?

If I plug everything back in minus SC2 and a33 I get 6 blinks.

Everything attached minus SS11 I get a Bzzzz from the ps and a 5 blink.

Everything all connected I get a bzzzz and a 3 blink.

            /bump

Here is a photo of the area on the PS were the Bzzz comes from.

I have a video but having issues uploading it to the tube.

Basicly it goes like this, plug the cord in, relay click, turn the power on via the button another rely click a Bzzzz for 1.5 seconds then another click and then SOS 3 with all boards attached.

I'm thinking shorted SC board? So with all those things disconnected, was the TV running? does this have fans, were they running? Did you by chance measure vsus etc and confirm if the TV was running or not?

Maybe check out the Sc for shorted IGBTs or check resistance on the SC2 Vsus rail also 15V and 5v lines on the SC also.

With all those things disconnected the tv (red light) was solid, I don't recall the fans coming on at all. I can easily go back down and disconnect and try again.

                The ps buzzing is strange.

Everything disconnected and turned in the fans come on a second after the power button is pressed. Solid red LED.

Power supply doesn't buzz in this state at all.

If the fans are on then the TV is running. That confirms that whatever is going on it's not he PSU or A board. If you probed the PSU in that state you should be able to confirm all the voltages are good.

You only get buzzing with the SC so I think it's shorting the PSU. SC board failure in G10/15 is fairly common. 3 & 5 blinks are triggered on the A board so the issue is external to the A board since you got no blinks, shorted SC boards can cause a number of other SOS to trip.

looking at the picture, T201 produces vsus, i assume that is where you're talking? Check SC2 for short cct.

Strange 181 on P2, 191 on p11. Both are vsus so should be identical.

P2 and p11 are tied together, maybe dirty connection.

I think this will be bad Sc board, should be able to find somehing shorted on that like the IGBTs.Would not hurt to check out the SD/SU buffers too before replacing the sc if it's bad.

Do you have the 2009 Troubleshooting guide? you mentioned SOS5 at once point, if you look at that it talks about chirping noises from the PSU and first step is checking shorted SS11 or Sc2. SInce the 5 blink was with SS11 disconnected, that makes it certain it's not the SS, leaves SC as first checkpoint of short at Sc2.

You did and I am very appreciative of your help my friend. I was just going back and reverse engineering my connections to see if I was in fact getting the same errors going backwards as I was going forwards.

I am still pretty green to all these repairs I am not a professional just a guy rescuing panels heading to the landfill who sometimes adds a little money to his pocket in the process. I have actually donated a couple of the smaller ones back to the thrift shops I have gotten them from anonymously.

So being that the SC board is pretty much the culprit it looks like shop jimmy sells a kit or they did as it says no longer available/out of stock.

                                      http://www.shopjimmy.com/panasonic-t...repair-kit.htm

I don't actually regret buying the mainboard, I got it for 65.00 off the 198 from Moduslink if I do finally get this pig powered up and running I will put the old MB back in and make sure it works and probably sell it to someone else who needs one as these boards are pretty hard to get.

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Panasonic P58V11B 8 and 12 blinks error "fix"

Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...

                                          Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks

                                          Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
                                          by Alicat
                                          Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                                          Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

                                          Hello all,
As the title states, I followed the troubleshooting guide located here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/23...page=53#manual, which concluded the 'A' board needs to be replaced. Looking around the net and eBay, I see that there are repair services for the board (TNPH1043UE? Not sure if it is a 'UE' as the suffix grid does not appear marked). What additional troubleshooting can be performed to ensure 1) this board is the problem and 2) since there are repair services, what are they fixing on the board?) I expected 3.3V not to be available anywhere...
