    Samsung UE40D5520

TV works fine but I wish not to jump to conclusion to say this is a panel fault. It could be the t-con I dont know.

When you see abnormal colours on screens, what first comes to mind?

Image with left side of tv with green colour:

Image with rest of the screen ok:

Does the picture stay like that when you remove the right hand ribbon from the tcon?
Could be wrong, but if the tcon is faulty then usually all the image would be bad.

When the right ribbon is removed, half the right screen is black; the left stays on.

Bad panel. See it a lot on these models, AFAIK not fixable.

If I see, that is a D series TV, then I suspect right away the screen.

                  It's a shame though!

Unfortunately D series TV's are known for very poor panels (take a look on eBay... theres usually 10 - 15 at any time with faulty panels going cheap and a lot of boards available fairly cheap) and equally the C series are known for bad main boards (again, a few TV's for sale with bad main boards and hardly ever do you see a main board for sale on its own...)

Agree it looks like the panel has an issue.

You can try to apply pressure on the ribbon on the top of the panel pushing on the front bezel and twisting it a bit to see if it comes back to normal without taking it apart and see if the symptoms change to confirm.

I took one of them apart and inserted foam in the area where the ribbon is pressing downward on the ribbon. This makes the intermittent connection work for a while till the foam looses its tension on the ribbon.

There is a youtube by someone as well who has done this with the steps.

                      Good Luck!
