I just picked up this TV today. It is a Sanyo DP46840 Chassis P46840-01. the owner told me that when they first turn the tv on the get half a picture. and after about 30 minutes the tv will go to full picture. I wonder if some of the caps on the main board could be the trouble. I have attached some sample pictures. some of them look a little bulged at the top. not sure of this would be a t-con. but I thought it was strange that it would start working after the tv warmed up. any suggestions would be awesome. thanks for your help.

Re: Sanyo DP46840 Half Picture Chassis -01
Those caps look fine. You might have an inverter going bad. You also might have a bad panel. I have a DP46848 that has half a picture until it warms up. It has bad tab bonds. Flexing the chasis gets the picture to come and go.Comment

Re: Sanyo DP46840 Half Picture Chassis -01
I found that the bonding tab to the screen is not making a good connection. I found a video out on you tube with this exact model of TV. And Wow it was easy to get to this spot. I wish all of the TV were made like this. I added a piece of foam and now the picture stays full all of the time. thanks for your help.Comment

Hi,
I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.
If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and... -

by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... -
