Hi- i'm working on sony tv model kdl 32l 5000 and everything seems to be working ok except remote. I tried different remotes. No luck. I pulled out sensor panel and checked for voltage on sensor and measured 3.28 volts on one side of infra-red det. But nothing happens when you press any of buttons on remote on any of pins of plug going to the board. I suspect the light detector. Has anyone had any problems with this?

Re: Sony no control with remote
Is the remote sending signal??
Test by turning on an AM/FM radio to the AM band then bring the remote very close to the radio and press the power button and hear if you are betting a series of beeps. If not change the remote batteries and retry. If nothing then carefully open the remote and wipe the carbod contacts on the pad and board with isopropyl alcohol and do adiode check on the infrared diode. -
Re: Sony no control with remote
You can also check the IR is working with a webcam or digital camera.
You may not see any change in voltage on the sensor with just a multimeter, you probably need an oscilloscope."Tantalum for the brave, Solid Aluminium for the wise, Wet Electrolytic for the adventurous"

Re: Sony no control with remote
MLCC (failure mode for MLCC is shorted circuit) 10uF Filter caps (there are two of them, one of them failed) at the VCC pin of the IR receiver module. He removed MLCC and replaced them with electrolytics type.Last edited by budm; 06-20-2014, 02:05 PM.Never stop learning

Re: Sony no control with remote
I think the cap. was 9013 located near IR rec. There was 2 10mfd parallel which made 20 mfd. I removed bad one which left 10mfd. worked very good on 10 mfd so I left it that way. I did"nt want to take chance on soldering on that small board.Comment

Re: Sony no control with remote
It is an odd circuit with so many MLCC and resistors, I'm not sure why Sony did it like that. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

by tmhobadcapI have this receiver for at least 10 years. Usually, we just use the remote for turning on/off and adjusting the volume. Recently, the remote control started not able to turn the receiver on. Later, the volume also could not be adjusted by the remote control.
At first, I thought that it was the usual problem which can be fixed by cleaning the contacts on the switches and the pcb. I opened the remote and clean it with alcohol. The remote did work again after that. But after one day, it did not work again. I opened it again and clean with alcohol and contact cleaner. Again it worked... -
by snmeHave not found a manner to open this remote without a hammer or grinder.
So far as I can tell, there is no manner to decently open it and remove oil from the contacts.
Any secret technique would be welcome. -
by piipoHi, I have an old Privileg brand 5.1 speakers. I have lost the remote control. I have an universal Harmony remote but there is no Privileg brand in it's software to add. Does anybody have an idea what alternative brand for a remote can I try instead? I'm attaching an image of what the speakers looks like. The image shows 2 main speakers, they are 5 + 1 in total. Thank you very much1 Photo

by hemant_2222Hello Everyone,
Hope everyone is enjoying their repairs at hand!.
I am looking forward to get the schematic of Denon remote control RC1156. Actually long time no use of the remote leaked the battery thereby corroding few parts as well as the tracks.
I was able to join few of them but the remote is still not working, so i am looking forward for your help, in case anyone understand the schematic or the remote circuit diagram and could me assist me in repairing it.
Please refer to the attached picture, i think the voltage divider is missing...-

by crackedprintI have a strange fault on a Sony amplifier. The volume control varies the display from MIN, then 1 up to 30 and then MAX as expected. At MIN there is no sound. However, at 1 it is quite loud and increasing above 1 does not change the sound level.
I have tried a Cold Reset as per the service manual.
I have looked at the I2C clock and data to volume control chip IC501 (BD3499FV). Data is only sent to IC501 when the volume is set to MIN or 1. At any other setting no data is sent to IC501.
I have looked all the way through the service manual and tried many online...-
