ok guys my mother asked me to look at her lcd red light blinks in a reboot cycle all caps on psu look good cy8045 and cm810 with glue looked crap also center pin on qb802 looked a bit brown so replaced these parts

on my meter all 24v to inverter and fine 12v 5.4v etc are all fine to mainboard but still wouldnt turn on then today i had the idea to try and reset the eeprom for 2 secs and it worked came on and seemed fixed


then i unpluged it for a few hrs and when hooking up the mains the psu started to hiss tv turned on with lines on display then after a reboot the eeprom needed reseting again however once warm i can turn it on/off fine with no hissing and the eerpom has no problem picture is fine aswell

any ideas?

ok i feel like a idoit!
the hissing sound really did sound like a bad psu sound however im not silly enuff to put my ear on a psu but i did just unplug the speakers and its stopped

so really my only problem is when cold the display shows lines and a hissing from the speaker that lasts 5mins would this be the psu still?

If PSU voltages are OK - steady and correct - probably not.
I would look to the main board in particular the main BGA is a common fault on Bordeaux main boards like these, same cause as Xbox 360 RROD / PS3 YLOD.

cheers ill give it a reflow if all else fails but it seems like after the eeprom reset the defaults are wrong
backlight becomes less bright when increased
setting video to movie mode makes the picture go grazy
vol does not increase correcly


anyway i can check these default settings?

Put TV into standby, press INFO MENU MUTE then POWER on the remote (in sequence.) When it powers up into the service menu select factory reset, the TV should turn off (if it does not turn it off manually after a few seconds.) When the TV turns on follow the normal set up procedure.

got the panel looking good all options work like movie mode i just picked the next panel under the service menu option think it started with mcb anyway it now showed Bordeaux and looks good

as for the cold start with messed up video i think ur right tom66 it still comes on with screen errors and restarts untill the bga chip gets warm then it will stay on fine with no errors so to test i left it on stby for 30mins felt the heatsink on the mainboard bga chip to check its cool and the error came back when switched on

then again when its on stby the relay is also going off so it might still be worth trying another psu before i reflow the mainboard

100% bga chip removed power from wall and left to cool heated the bga chip to normal working temp switch on mains and no error at all

gonna need to reflow the chip i havnt got the tools to reball it so will have to do with a xbox 360 fix lol

by the way when and if its fixed could i hook up a old pc 12v fan mod to help keep it from going again?

omg if i warm up the bga chip for 10 secs with nothing more then my wifes hair dryer it boots 1st time no video errors

reflow the chip with flux five times almost got it hotter then hell on the last go and it didnt change a thing..

yet still 10 secs with a hair dryer and it boots fine still


i think its a case of a new mainboard or just put up with having to wait 5 mins for the chip to warm up

Is it possible it's not the BGA, but rather something near it? For example some Samsung main boards have issues with tantalum capacitors near the processor, causing temperature-sensitive issues. Try checking low CPU voltages (3.3V, 1.8V, 1.2V, etc.)

under the heat sheild is 3 small tantalum capacitors 6.3v and 2 large labled 1000T also a large power coil 220 i could only find the small caps to replace and it didnt help so i just went on ebay to pick up a mainboard

mine is a BN41-00813D and on the tuner it reads BN94-01121N
after searching the best match i could find was a BN41-00813D and the tuner reads BN94-01121S fingers crossed it works by the way the panel is labled V315B1-L01 REV:C3

That should be fine, you do not care about tuner part # as main board will be designed for that tuner. However what you need to look out for is if the new board has the same panel model # set up.

so worse case i might need to go into service mode and change panel type
sorry i am new to all this i spend most my time on consoles and phone repairs

if i run into problems would swapping eerpoms from this old board help?
my panel is a V315B1-L01 REV:C3 what would that be in service mode?

Yes, in the worst case you can simply swap the EEPROMs over, they are pretty easy to remove and replace (8 pin -- SO8.)
Some Samsung main boards lock the panel setting and don't allow you to change it, for some reason.
