Removing it was no problem, soldering the flea sized thing was a different story unfortunately. I did pick up some flux and been using it since and wiping the board with isopropyl afterwards. I will remove that final cap, it has been giving different capacitance readings compared to it's mirrored cap on the other side panel pcb. I will practice on the bad t-con, then try to get them back on, thanks!

Yes.. what have you done here (you need to practice soldering on donors...) remove the last capacitor, it is already destroyed, drop a little flux and remove the remaining solder with a braid for removing solder, clean this place with isopropyl alcohol...

Guess you need to clean it up and see if you can find some the same physical size to put in there, it's true you can probably get along fine without one but you have 4 or 5 gone, check out some more youtube videos and see how the pros do it, practice on a scrap board, once you get those replaced you should be ok.

That is a hell of a hack job. No flux ? To remove a cap I always just cut it off as it's much easier.

Hello, my Aunt recently gave me her broken Sony XBR-65A8G OLED after getting a replacement. It had a 4x led flash error, a replacement T-con didn't fix the error but with helpful info from this forum I found one of the smd ceramic caps on the panel pcb (C575/C378) on a 24v line was shorted to ground. I removed that cap and the tv turned on without error. It still had a black screen with the original t-con back in it, once I put the replacement t-con in it finally had a picture. After doing a panel refresh it had a very good picture but with a few vertical lines for some scenes. For owners with this error, if shorted cap removal fixes the error for you I'd recommend you leave it be and don't try to re-solder in a cap unless you're good at micro soldering.

I was about to put the back cover on but I decided to solder in a cap of similar size off the bad t-con, big mistake as I accidentally messed up four of the surrounding caps unfortunately. Now with those caps missing the TV gives a 4 flash error again. I've double checked there are no short circuits or bridged power connections and there are none. With error sos bypassed on the mainboard, the tv relay clicks on but there's no picture, as the t-con is not supplying voltage to the EVSS lines except for a few seconds when factory reset with power + volume down. Testing with only the right side t-con to panel flex cable connected and sos bypassed there is no error, but with only the left side t-con to panel flex cable, which is the side with the missing caps, there's a 5x blink error, which could be panel id err or t-con internal err.

I've since gotten better soldering equipment and watched several videos on smd soldering. One question I have is could having a few pads bridged on the ground side cause a problem, I understand it would for the positive side but none are bridged there. I've experimented with a few caps I've harvested from the old t-con but it's made no difference so far. Three of smallest capacitors missing are 2 in parallel from a 1.8v line and one missing on a .104v line with one in parallel still intact. A slightly larger one running on a 8v line did not make a difference when I soldered a 5-10uf cap in. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it, thank you.
