Hi! My Samsung 50 inch plasma recently developed a vertical line on the screen. I have had it for about 3 years or so. It is no longer under warranty. It is a thin line, a little thicker than a line drawn with a pencil. It runs from the top of the screen all the way to the bottom. It is on the left side about four or five inches from the edge of the screen. It changes colors depending on what is on the screen at the time. It ranges from reddish to greenish or black. I have tried switching out inputs, using different cables etc. I have even opened up the back and checked for loose connections and dust. I haven't noticed any burnt, damaged, or broken areas on any of the internals. Nothing I have tried so far has worked. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated. I currently can't afford a new tv, so if I can figure out how to fix it I am more than happy to try. If you need any additional information just let me know. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Re: Samsung PN50C550G1FXZA (Line on screen)
Being that it's a 550 series PDP plasma, these are notoriously known for bad and faulty panels.
But since yours isn't completely black (void ) i would atleast try to reseat the buffer cables and clean them with electrical contact cleaner and see if the line goes away.
Chances are it's a IC driver failure in the ribbon cable that is fused in between the glass and cannot be fixed.
Good luck and report back of your findings.
Also make sure to reseat the cables fully before turning on the panel of you don't it might short and then cause more damage.

I wonder if this is a "tab bond" issue, but on a plasma panel. It is possible, but I have never seen one myself. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Most of the post on Youtube that refer to the tab bond are for LCD's. This is a plasma and it doesn't look like it has the same frame as the units in the videos. I don't know. I can fiddle with it, turn it off and it goes away. After a while it just comes back.

Are you sure you got all of the cables? Can you snap a photo of the inside in your panel?
If I remember correctly the y-buffer cables are at the bottom and you have to remove the wall mount/stability bars as well as the bottom brackets and maybe a few boards. I think this is the same unit as my samsung badged insignia PDP.
