I am wondering if they contain some type of eeprom or something that causes them to be different? The only thing I can see different is the part #
there is something strange with the info on Sj though, the BK they're quoting 50" panel sticker yet show 3 55" models
I'd say the BA/BK are 55", the AJ is 50"

Any ideas?
If you want to know , you'll have to do your own research and comparisons whether it be visual comparison, comparing schematics , part lists etc

Yes, if you do enough digging , it's fairly common to find a heatsinked/non-heatsinked buffer boards that are electrically the same.
I know with the 2010 series , for example a V20 and a VT20 (3D) buffer set are not the same on the SD but the SU are the same.
You can certainly increase your luck doing the research and sometimes works out cheaper.

Panasonic Plasma TC-P50S30 7 blinks fixed by replacing with differnet model SU/SD Boa
Panasonic Plasma TC-P50S30 7 blinks, open cover and took an eye inspection on the SC, SU/SD boards, no obvious damaged components were found.
Checked SC board had voltage while turn on, but disappeared as the tv shut itself off.
So what I did was:
1. Isolated the SC board from the two buffers (SU/SD) by disconnecting.
2. Shorted the SC50 (I used an old IDE hard drive jumper).
3. Plug power cord and Turned on the TV, it powered up constantly, no blinks any more, TV response to the remote control.
4. Unplug the power cord from the wall, wait for 5 minutes.
5. Connected the SC board with the SU/SD board again, TV still turned off and gave 7 blinks.
From this point, I suspected the buffer boards failed, this is a common issue for this model, most likely is the upper board problem, I think the culprit
was that there are no heat sinks for the ICs on the boards. I checked the price on ebay, the upper buffer board was quite expensive.
The two buffer board part numbers are TNPA5336AB/TNPA5337AB. I happed have a pair of TNPA5336AG/TNPA5337AG from Panasonic TC-P50GT30, which is a 3D plasma TV.
Since the part numbers are the same only the suffix are different, I thought they should work.
So I replaced the TNPA5336AB/TNPA5337AB with TNPA5336AG/TNPA5337AG, turn on, TV lite up ! Everything works !
Please note I replaced as a pair. TNPA5336AG/TNPA5337AG boards have heat sinks on top of ICs, so I'm sure the these two boards are more reliable than the old pair.
