Since I started this hobby with thanks to all the people on here helping us all out, I have found to be having issues with different used parts dealers. Wondering if anyone else have been having trouble. I have bought many boards off Ebay and crossing my fingers and knocking on wood, I have yet to receive a bad board. I have used Payless Components a few times now and twice I have received bad boards from them. Shopjimmy has been good but their shipping charges are insane. I live in Winnipeg about 7 hours drive away from them and I pay $50 shipping. I understand it crosses the border but Payless charges $10. I have dealt with Useful tv parts and no issues but their stock is limited. Has anyone had issues or recommend other suppliers?

Re: Buying used parts
Ive gotten most of mine from recycled tvs, but they take up a lot of space. ShopJimmy is my favorite as I have a almost 100% certainty that they are good. You might try getting them from ShopJimmy off ebay. They charge a bit more for the boards but shipping is much more reasonable.Liberating magic smoke one part at a time

Re: Buying used parts
I've ordered three items from Shopjimmy. Two were dead on arrival. The first time, they sent a PSU that arrived with a blown fuse in it. I replaced the fuse and it blew again immediately. If it had been tested as they claim, it would have been pretty easy to tell it was not working. The second time, I ordered a control box for a 32" Polaroid. It took two replacements to get one that actually worked. The first one wouldn't allow the input to be changed, the second one displayed vertical lines, the third one fixed the issue.
There is no certainty that ShopJimmy's boards are good and they obviously don't test all of them.

Re: Buying used parts
I ordered a Sony main board from shopjimmy, they said the board was new, tested. So I installed on my TV (My TV had color distoration), it didn't powered on, when I unplug the cable to the panel, it powered on but of course no picture.
I called Shopjimmy but they answered only one guy could determine the main board failed, without that guy determination they were not willing to refund. Emailed them a couple of times but no reply.
Finally got approve to return, they refund the board, but I had to pay two shippings (return and the fee they shipped to me).
since then I never buy parts from Shopjimmy.

He use to combine postage but last transaction for whatever reason he never did, even after he said he would?
So with 3 boards I was charged $15 / board. 2 travelled together still charged $30.
Compared to SJ I'm still miles in front though, just not as sweet a deal as it was when I first purchased.
I got a 20% off discount for my next purchase from Payless.
SJ needs greater flexibility on their International postage. There are cheaper options and I'd like to get a repair kit but I'm not shelling out $50 for an envelope with some semiconductors that weigh almost nothing.

I emailed them after and I questioned them on the shipping charges and got the blah blah blah email back. I wasn't impressed at all. I'll use them to ship to a warehouse I use in Pembina, ND but not to Canada. I do try to use Payless as much as I can.

I always look at how many sales they've made, feedback score which ideally should be above 99%, terms of sale, returns etc, always look for the negative and neutral scores and read them.
Quite often someone will say the bit was bad and have a followup saying full refund or replacement sent etc. Looking for their after sales service.
If the seller has multiple lots (eg 10 or more) of the same boards available then good chance they came from damaged in transit TVs sold in a lot.
Most do the right thing, but take the board tested remarks with a grain of salt as majority are not.
Worst case I had when I went outside Ebay to china for TCON boards. PAYPAL saved me though.
Always use PAYPAL. lodged 2 disputes for DOA sustain boards and got refunds on both.

I have got a T-con board from them and I'm not sure if it's good or not. I wanted to talk to them, about it.
