    Water Damaged Toshiba 48L1435DB

I have a water damaged Toshiba TV that was hanging nicely on the wall then over the summer we had a new multi-million pound boiler system put in and right where this TV was hanging is a nice new pair of water pipes for the radiators...

The TV hasnt been used for a fair few months but it was needed again the other day and needless to say, it didn't power on or show any signs of life (no standby LED etc). After checking the fuse in the plug (and that the socket it was plugged in to worked) I decided to get up some step ladders to take a closer look and low and behold! It looks like a waterfall of water and dirt cascaded over the back (and the insided) for quite some time! The little rascals (the plumbers) would have know what they had done as there would have been a large muddy mess on the wall.

I'm guessing the dirt came from where they drilled in to the brickwall to secure the pipes and then the pipes leaked causing the mud like substance to go all over the TV!

I've not attempted to repair a TV since I was at College learning Television Repair which was over 25 years ago so they were 1/4 of the size but 10 times the weight with CRT's in them!

I've given the PCBs a quick clean with Isopropyl alcohol and checked the main PCB for any shorts and I can't see any - check the coils and capacitors and they seem fine. I was hoping their would be a blown fuse or something but I cant see one.

If I check on both sides of the power I can see random voltages so there's definately something going on - any suggestions/tips on where to start next?

Don't invest any time into it. If water ran down the back like that it definitely got the ribbons and screen. The Powersupply repaired... Then the main may not work... Fix that then the TCON.. fix that then the screen. I've seen tvs with significantly less water damage then that and they were not fixable. Honestly just throw it away.
