ok so i purchased this lot of tv's today one being this samsung the power supply was in a seperate box the po told me they bought the tv's as is the lot of 3 at some estate sale. when i got home i opened the samsung since its the smallest of the 3 and found the power supply was not in it so i looked over the power board in the box and it is the 1 for the tv. I read alot of no power + caps on this model so i looked it over and all caps are good.. i power it on and get the red light but it dont turn on. all on the web they say red light = bad caps on this model but the caps are good. there is a reset button on main board i powered set then pushed it for 30 sec but it still wont power on.. im thinking eithe rim doing something wrong or mayb a bad main board?

Check if you have 5V output from PSU. Use legend. BN44-###### number of power supply? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

if it does then you can take them out & try them - but the test is only 50/50
otherwise - just replace them all.
use something decent like panasonic FR series.

Re: ln32a330j1d wont turn on
There's nearly no point in replacing the capacitors immediately, until you've done a few basic tests. Unless you're making an immediate investment into future reliability but that's probably risky, given you don't know if the rest of the TV is working.
If you found the power supply rails to be low you might be on the right track, but until you test, it's a shot-gun approach to repair (and I'm not a fan of it.) Yes, generally these Samwha do tend to fail a lot and they tend to bulge when they fail. However, there are loads of other failures on these power boards, and on the main boards too.
In all cases where I have fixed a Samsung or LG with bad capacitors, the power supply outputs have measured too low. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: ln32a330j1d wont turn on
In a general sense, a power rail is just a voltage supplied by a power supply. Most supplies in TVs have more than one rail.
Those connectors eg: CNM802 are indeed where the power rails exit the power supply board and go to the other components. You will see on the silkscreen above it there is a diagram showing which pins are for which rails\signals.
It says Pin 1-5 are for 24v, Pins 6-10 are for ground, etc etc. The connector itself has a marking or number next to each end to tell which one is pin 1 so you know which end to count from."Tantalum for the brave, Solid Aluminium for the wise, Wet Electrolytic for the adventurous"

Re: ln32a330j1d wont turn on
So you do have standby voltage. When you work on power supply with PFC, you must have at least the standby power supply working then you need is to find out if the PFC Voltage booster circuit is working or not before going further.
I cannot read the labeling of the connectors, you need to use 500~1K Ohm resistor between the 5VSTBY and the PS_ON to force on the power supply, you should see the DC voltage on the big main cap jumps up from 165V to around 360~400VDC, you will have to measure the voltage right at the two legs of that main filter cap. You will run the board by itself without having connected to other boards.Last edited by budm; 05-13-2014, 09:59 PM.Never stop learning

Re: ln32a330j1d wont turn on
i followed a youtube vid on ps on and 5v jumping along with bl on and 14vdet jumping for backlight and it did not power on i also started testing the diodes in circuit to see if i get any issue and there are 2 that show voltage when i have the pos on the cathode dm801 and dm802 and right next to it looks like a little transformer with yellow tape the tape either appears to have been slightly peeled or melted pic attached adding pic of plug labeling also kinda wierd but the ps on was showing 3v on its ownLast edited by whatusername; 05-13-2014, 10:10 PM.

Re: ln32a330j1d wont turn on
Right now just do the jump between the 5VSTBY and PS_ON to find out if the PFC is working or not first.
for this board pin1 ON/OFF of CM801 is the same as PS_ON.
BN44-00191A has the same pin out as the B.Attached FilesLast edited by budm; 05-13-2014, 10:20 PM.Never stop learning
