    55" Sony KDL-55EX710 or Samsung UN55D7000LF quality opinions?

    Hey I was just looking for some opinions on some deals I'm getting on craigslist.
    If you were to buy one based on quality and reliability which would it be?

    Sony KDL-55EX710 for $450
    or
    Samsung UN55D7000LF for $520

      Most likely the Sony. D series Samsungs have panel issues.
      I'm repairing a KDL55EX720 now. Not sure what the problem is but I suspect power surge. Found a VDO bad so far and most likely the mainboard is shot too.
      But these a repairable, but the Samsung's panel is not.
      This is only my opinion.
      I had already a D6250 that had a bad panel.

          Just be aware that most larger Sony's use Samsung panels. Since we don't know which panel is in the Sony, I would say the Sony since it's cheaper.

                  Sony KDL-46HX850 Can't upgrade/update firmware

                  Diagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.

                  Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me.
