    Fujitsu P42XTA51UB Pani Guts...

So I dont see fujitsu units around too often so when I saw one with what seems like a PSU issue for $25 I snatched it up... Get it home has panisonic guts... ugh...

So I check PSU NPX563MD-1C and it appears to have been shorted by a novice tech or owner... i start to check diodes and there is several shorted diodes on the PSU; I have a couple other pani psu's but they are newer and not near at all the same...

Whats the odds of repair to this thing or is there a replacement cross for it... cause these pani units are money pits sometimes...

It may be a Panasonic panel, but it will be a very old one (2005~2007 odd.) I don't see why you have trouble with these. Better than Samsung or LG of the same generation: full schematics for most stuff. Parts availability can be tough but no different for Samsung/LG. If you were talking about 2010 Panasonic onwards I'd probably agree...

What have you checked so far? Fuses, voltages, etc.? You found blown diodes, but did you check them out of circuit?

I havent yet pulled the diodes out of the board but most are testing short...
I have a protek 506 using the diode scale...

These PSUs have nothing printed on them as far as voltages or pins go; so that doesnt make on the spot diag as easy... i am going to have to hook up an outlet socket to the board to test it real quick out of unit...

I got the LG60 on the table right this sec but let me see if i got a loose pani socket so i dont have to clear the area for the fuji/pani...

      its a 2006...

The best you can do for voltages is find the model that PSU is used in for Panasonic and look that up. So probably a TH-42PX50U or TH-42PX60U.

            Re: Fujitsu P42XTA51UB Pani Guts...

Pluged it back up; it has a steady orange light... click once on when plug is put in few seconds later clicks off...

update; i can only find a steady 5v -assume its standby... high voltage side has high and low voltages in various spots... but the PSU for this one doesnt seem the same as the ones mentioned above...

Now I am wishing the thing would blink code something...

Unit seems to only click on once and off once when the zsys board is connected... other wise its just dead... with a stady green/red light on -both LEDs are on-

any ideas on what this means..?

i cant find any information on these fuji/pana off-brand and it doesnt seem worth finding out...

                Re: Fujitsu P42XTA51UB Pani Guts...

It's a Z SUS board (Panasonic call it the SS board, for "Sustain-Single"), not a Z SYS... anyway, check the Vsus output with and without the SS board connected.

                  Re: Fujitsu P42XTA51UB Pani Guts...

I wouldnt know where to begin to look for those voltages... none of the connectors have anything labeled on them and I cant find anything on this unit per say... ive tried following wires... but it seems like the unit wont even boot up...

was reading somewhere else about an issue with the eprom on some pani units and something about a cap near the bios but this model has none of that...

the only thing this unit does once its plugged in the light goes right to orange and the PSU clicks once waits about 3to4 seconds and clicks again... there are a couple other boards that have voltages written on them and the only one i get is 5v and random AC voltages on the hot side of the PSU... thought it might have been a bad power switch unit but the power switch itself is passing 5v when used so its not that...

and without a good knowledge of whats where and what pin does what im kind of stuck... i have tried looking for voltages with everything off it one at a time the only way it does anything is if the p12 connector is hooked up... otherwise its the same no matter whats hooked up or not... with p12 disconnected nothing comes on no front LED no clicks nada...

                    Re: Fujitsu P42XTA51UB Pani Guts...

VSUS will be across the two pin fat connector going into each sustain board. Also, a VSUS test point should be marked - if not on the power board then on the sustain boards.

                    It is about 200V normally.

Did you try using the PX50/PX60 Panasonic service guides?

Yes I been referring to the SM for px50... its similar...

i was able to find the "TPVSUS" located between the SS11 and SS24 connections at the top of the SS board -TNPA3558- on R177 and R176... Nothing at all here at any point during the plug in clicking or any other time...

trying to figure out how to do a bypass start up maybe get the PSU to force on...

If it's clicking on don't bother forcing why force it on? It's turning on already. Now try checking Vsus on SC with SS out.

If its not starting up--there's prolly a short.

Forcing it will probably cause more damage (even if the PSU would allow you to 'force it')

A low voltage by-pass at the mobo seems to be a fair test to me; although rare a failing mobo would cause a no start/boot issue... so to be able to bypass that routine and force the psu into a full boot -even out of the unit on the table/bench- so voltages can be tested... to me this is a logical sure fire way to rule out the PSU as the issue...

@Tom: It is not clicking and staying on... the unit clicks once -nothing happens no changes no voltage spikes nada- then 2 seconds later it clicks again; still nothing... the 5v is always there... Hot side of the PSU seems to be doing its thing; but no high voltages or 12v or anything else just 5v...

I found a SS board local for like 15$ might just pick it up but would like to narrow it down more for sure first... im torn between the PSU and the SS board... I am leaning more towards the SS board because a failure there seems like it would shut down the PSU for sure...

Thats the only reason i want to know what pins to touch to do a PSU bypass... just to see if i can get high voltages out of it and rule it out as an issue...
