Can I safely bypass the standby board?, RCA L32WD12

I am repairing a L32WD12 RCA tv. I already replaced the 6 caps in the main power supply that were obvious bad but the TV still only shows the red standby light and won't fully power on.

There is a small standby board in between the main power jack and the power board. The little board has a couple of capacitors and relay and other electronics on it. The red/white 110v go directly to that board and then from there to the main board. I assume that the standby board shuts off power to the main power board to save electricity.

My main question is it okay to directly apply 110v to the red/white wires going to the main power board bypassing the standby to make sure the television powers up and functions?

It should be safe, but I would not expect it to work. The TV is not powering up for a reason. Check the ON/OFF signal to the standby relay. If it is HIGH but the relay doesn't click then that is a problem. However it's more likely you have a main board problem. IMHO.

Reminds me of that 2005 RCA CRT that was given to me..... Was being a major POS! Wonders if there's poor soldering.....

The symptom was when I when I turned it on after it being turned off, just like I dreaded, my test failed!
It would be possessed if I didn't keep it turned on!

The screen would come on then turn off by itself and the red standby light is lit again!

Well I jumpered the 110ac to the mainboard and sure enough, nothing. So the bypass board is probably fine. I had replaced 6 of the bigger main caps that were obviously failed. I will desolder the rest of caps. test them, and have my friend with magnifiers examine the board for obvious problems.

You need to figure out why the main board is never sending the ON command. Ignore the capacitors for now; they're unrelated, they won't be used until it starts.

                Jonesy123, Here is the Schematic.

RJARRRPCGP, Your 2005 RCA crt most likley had problems with the tac switches, they were known for causing the tv to turn on/off, change channels, pop up the menu etc.
