Re: KDL-40S4100 lcd help please
You will need to find out how to access the hidden service menu. Each manufactor has their own button combo to get in. I would suggest googling your Panels model number and xxx-xxxxxx how to access the service menu via remote ect.Comment

Re: KDL-40S4100 lcd help please
Is your meter perhaps an autoranging meter?
The curve looks suspicious, especially around #6 to #8, but apart from that, I can't see any major problems.
So it's hard to be sure, I wouldn't expect image to look that bad with the voltages slightly out. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: KDL-40S4100 lcd help please
Hi.
The new main board is not compatible with the old board ,different firmware.
There are no files available to download for this model.
I have tried 3 different A boards 2 different t-cons .
Go by the serial number of the TV.Comment

Re: KDL-40S4100 lcd help please
Your best option would be to download and install firmware update before going any furtherComment

Re: KDL-40S4100 lcd help please
I too had the solarized picture after fixing the "power led goes green, no picture or backlight" problem by replacing the main board in my KDL40S4100, part number 48.71H01.031.
I figured the solarized image problem out by Googling and finally finding shopjimmy's Youtube video on Samsung solarization after main board replacement: the Panel Version that the main board is expecting is different than the panel actually in the TV.
I found another thread somewhere with the Sony service menu code. Using the Sony remote, press in sequence: Power on, wait for TV to come completely on, left, right, muting, center button, muting, menu.
You will see the service menu, and at the bottom there is the critical data you need, namely the Model Name and Panel Version. Make sure you were sold the right board. I was sold a board pulled from Model Name KDL46S4100, which of course is configured to expect a different Panel Version than the Panel Version that is actually in my KDL40S4100 (which is LCD_AU037_1920).
Armed with this knowledge, you can then ask better questions of the sellers when buying the main board.
I'm asking the ebay seller to swap me the correct board since he technically sold me the wrong product.
It is POSSIBLE that a firmware update will reconfigure the main board as the correct Model Name and Panel Version, but I do not know if this is will occur since I cannot actually find the firmware anywhere. Sony's website does not carry it any longer, and after hours of Googling, I have not found anyone sharing it.
I am looking for the firmware file "KDL40S4100_V1.115.zip" specifically named in the software update manual (Google "Servicer Software Update Procedure"). Does anybody have this to share here?Comment

Re: KDL-40S4100 lcd help please
@R_J:
Thank you from both me and all the other KDL40S4100 owners out there who are stranded firmware-wise!
The funny thing is, the seller has agreed to RMA the board, so I won't be attempting the firmware update on this KDL46S4100 board (don't want to risk bricking it). So we won't find out whether the firmware overwrites the configuration's "Model Name" or not--this time. I'll use the firmware on the next board I buy, though, so thanks!
Perhaps someone else who is stuck with a KDL46S4100-configured board and has no option to return it can try flashing it now and seeing if it works...
---
I am not certain about this, but it appears the LCD panel in my KDL40S4100 is a LTY400HA11. At least that's what the sticker says. IF that is true, then that means the KDL46S4100-configured board is expecting to see a LCD_AU037_1920 LCD panel. ShopJimmy's online store seems to support the sticker: his items for the KDL40S4100 are organized by "Panel Sticker Number: LTY400HA11"
Unfortunately, his items for the KDL46S4100 are organized by "Panel Sticker Number: LTY460HB10, LTZ460HB10" so there is no obvious correlation between the sticker number and the "LCD_AU037_1920" reported by the factory service menu.Last edited by dchang0; 06-21-2014, 03:46 AM.Comment

Hi,
I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.
If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and... -

i have a samsung lcd tv
it powers on with sound and backlight but no picture
all voltages from PS are good 12v 3.3v and 5v
whats odd is that at the tcon i tested voltage across the fuse on the tcon and i get 0v
i figured main board issue..so i ordered a used main board....when i put replacement main board in i still have same issue
no 12v at the tcon fuse
i disconnect the panel ribbon cables to rule out any panel issues and i still have no 12v at the tcon fuse
the odds of having 2... -
by x_orange90_xJust bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

by Tr0llHi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.
The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.
Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.
First replacement T-con:
I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)... -
by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... - Loading...
