    Sylvania LC-26SS1 Power Supply issues

    Hello!

I recently got a Sylvania 26" LCD panel for cheap as it did not turn on.

I pulled the back off and noticed the 125v 4a fuse was toasted, so I put another fuse (5a I had for a 12v car stereo) in and plugged in the panel and tried to turn it on and no luck. The new fuse did not blow but the panel did nothing no turn on or red power light ect.

The 2 1000uf caps look to the eye good but I am going to replace them anyway as well as the 2200uf cap behind the transformer cased in yellow.

What would cause the fuse to blow in the first place, bad caps or a series of other failed components?

Here are the photos of the entire spread of the panel, not much to it so this is all that was able to be photographed.

Thanks in advance! I am getting a new DMM today as my old one is failing on me.

Replaced all of the 1000uf and 2200uf caps and got a proper fuse and still nothing, I am getting voltage through out the power supply.

The Sylvania LCDs I've read about have had diode failures in the power supply.

        Thanks!

The board has 2 toasted transformers and a few other parts that I discovered. The cost of the parts exceeded the price i found for a refurbished power supply that I had found on a site. I ended up getting it and the tv fired right up and now is used in my friends mothers house .

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Argon SA1 audio amplifier power-supply - fuse blown after fixing the short?
          by Babbar
I found a project in the electronics trash yesterday. A nice Argon SA1 audio amp with some electrical issue. Took it apart and saw that the 4A250V fuse was blown so started lifting components to find the short. Eventually got to two MOSFETs (model FTA14N50C) that are shorted and when i took them out the short was gone.

Now i didn't have any replacements of the same model of course but i found a couple with pretty similar spec i thought (K10A60D & K12A50D) and put them in. Also replaced the blown fuse with a 3.5A250V one. Checked another time for short circuit and plugged it in....

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

          Edac/Drobo Power Supply Fuse
          by vletr
          Hello,

Looking for next steps on troubleshooting for an external power supply made by EDAC, model EA11011H-120. The power supply was dropped onto a tile floor and initially and briefly worked but the led power indicator light faded out and the power supply showed no signs of life since.

In disassembly, I found that the large capacitor had leaked and was reading open when measured. The fuse nearest to the AC in had also blown, with no continuity. I ordered a new capacitor and fuse and replaced both, but on power-up with no load the fuse immediately blew.

Used a Ring tester to troubleshoot a switching power supply that has a blowed fuse
          by sam_sam_sam
I found this switching power which has a blowed fuse checked diodes which were still good out of circuit checked main filtering capacitor with an ESR meter 220uf@450 volts 0.15 value which to me seem bad but maybe not but without these items not in the circuit because I have about 8 ohm on the output of the capacitors so I removed the switching power supply transformer and checked it with a ring tester and all but one winding showed good all others either showed two red lights or no lights on and one winding had all lights on which was the only one that was good

          One other check that...
