ok, I am not a TV repair person, but my LG screen went black with no popping sound, the audio kept working for about two minutes then it stopped and then nothing. Thought is blew the caps I took the back off and sure enough two caps on the power board were popped. Changed them out and still nothing, set clicks then powers back off, then I said the heck with it and ordered a new board, waited a week installed it and nothing changed, decided what the heck and ordered a new y sus board and y buffer boards just installed them and still the set clicks and goes into standby. I need help, I do not know what to check next or am I just wasting time and money on the TV.

Re: LG 50pcdr1 is broke
Not sure how close your chassis is to an LG 50" plasma that I recently got going, but I wonder if the Z-Sus is the issue? Does it get its power supply by piggy-backing through the Y-Sus board? If the Z-Sus board is the same as mine, I changed out the Y-Sus board, but was also alerted to two SMT resistors (R90 and R901) in the bottom lefthand corner of the Z-sus board that go open circuit. See what you can see on that Z-Sus board.
Anyway, if you do have the piggyback supply to the Z-Sus just pull that and see if anything changes at power up. -
Re: LG 50pcdr1 is broke
Mine is a 50" and the z sues piggy backs from the y sus. Do you mean unplug the z sus and see if there is a change? If that is the case I have already tried disconnecting the z sus with the same results. Did your fan come on before you changed any of the boards?Comment

Re: LG 50pcdr1 is broke
Yes, on my failed TV, at initial power up the fans came on for about 5 seconds before everything shut completely off again. It does seem strange that at the first instance of your failure that the sound continued for sometime. I too am out of my depth at this point, but I'm sure someone on this forum will be able to guide you through the repair.Comment

Re: LG 50pcdr1 is broke
Your power supply has more than 2 caps that need replacing !
It is good procedure to replace all 10v caps while you are right there.
There should be six 3300@10 in the secondary.Use high temp / low ESR
16v replacements. Also, replace C202 & C222 for prevent maintenance.
Hope this helps..........
Terry
PS. I am thinking that your replacement PS is no good.....Comment

Re: LG 50pcdr1 is broke
Have a trawl through this technical forum website and read any threads that refer to LG 50 inch plasmas. The model numbers vary but they all are basically very similar. Even the power supplies are similar in how they work and the voltages they put out. There is a sequence of voltages that fire up and auto checks before giving full volts. I'm not an expert but I do remember reading or seeing that information somewhere her on the site.
By the way, I think there's a typo in your model number in the topic. I think it should be LG 50PC1DR. A search on this model number will throw up quite a few similar cases as yours.
Also Tom has the service manuals for your beast located here: http://www.toms-service-manuals.com/
I reckon this will get you a long way towards solving your issue. You've invested so much so far you may as well see it through.Last edited by dkneyle; 04-03-2014, 04:15 PM.Comment

Re: LG 50pcdr1 is broke
There are any number of things. The MOSFETS that do the inverter switching can fail. Diodes can fail. Use the diode function on your multimeter and look for junction readings that just don't seem right. Because you have many of the same components you can compare. For example, if two leads on a MOSFET read short but the same component elsewhere shows something like a 0.6volt drop then you can probably assume a failed MOSFET. Sometimes they go open circuit as well.Comment

Re: LG 50pcdr1 is broke
I have the same tv lG50pc1dra and have the same problem But when I unplug the the p802 harness (on the power supply feeding the board with all the audio video inputs ) the tv starts up but obviously with no picture. I also replaced my power supply only to find I had the same problem. When I plug this harness back in TV shuts right down. So I guess my next move will be to change the board with all the audio Video inputs and coax input outputs Has anyone ever heard of this problem and can someone please tell me the name of this board lol. Good luckComment

Re: LG 50pcdr1 is broke
with mine no matter which boards I plug in or unplug I get the same click on the two seconds later the second click. Having ordered two power boards and both have not had the proper voltage output. At one point I thought the y sus and buffers were blown and ordered new and that did not work, so now I need to locate a reputable power board and see if that works.Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -
by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

by HakuuHi There,
This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.
After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

by jb_BakHey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.
Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
