Pioneer PDP-6010 FD vertical half bar

Hi experts, just got a 2007 model PDP-6010 FD and found a vertical bar that came with it. Bar is from the bottom and carries half way up screen. It is 14" from the right screen side and is 3 3/8" wide. no colors, totally black. Other than that little thing the picture looks perfect. Any suggestions ??? I'm a new guy so i don't think I can post a picture yet:

A wide bar indicates a possibly loose connector or bad control board.

Unreal, I've never posted anything anywhere before. So I guess I'll undo a bunch of screws and take the back off this thing. I'll try the easiest thing first I guess, poke around and see if I find anything that looks loose or not obviously right. Is it ok to crank it back up to see if it sorta fixed itself with the back off or do I have to put it back on again. I f that doesn't work, what board (s) should I be looking for. Thanks a bunch for an answer.

I got a pdp6020 and it has circuit boards all around the tv. I bet its a bad connection to the board that goes to the tab. I counted how many boards there were in the tv and I counted 20. Let me know the board number I still have the boards.

DO NOT run this tv with the back off without finding a way to hold down the Tamper Switch or you will be adding to your headaches.

That black bar COULD be a bad panel, I misread your description and thought it was one third of the screen.
But doesn't hurt to check connectors.

Yea either a bad panel or connection at the ribbon cable or the circuit board connecting the ribbon cable to the panel.

Thanks for all the rapid responses guys, I am overwhelmed. I think i found the motherlode of help here and am really grateful for the responses. You are all much faster than i will be able to be in getting to this. I will have to start this weekend when I have some quality time to get in to this project as i am a total beginner. I think I have to work slowly and take a lot of pix so I can put it all back together properly. I will report back Sunday or so. Again thanks !

                    Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                    Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vertical Lines on Half of LCD Display
                    by rfxcasey
I have an Siemens HMI with vertical lines on half of the screen. These lines aren't scrambled garbage but rather very regular in pattern and color. I have replaced the LCD with a new one and still the problem persists. I'm wondering if this isn't indicative of a bad video process chip or video memory? Any help would be appreciated. The cable appears to be OK but one pin on the header is unpopulated, though there isn't any loose wire to suggest one broke off or popped out of the connector. In the picture below where the connector is busted out of the side, I did that with my small screw driver...

LCD SAMSUNG LE40A656A1CXXE - Vertical Lines on Half of The Screen?
                    by ItalianSat
                    Hello Everybody,

I have a 40 inch LCD SAMSUNG LE40A656A1CXXE. Its problem is that there are Vertical Lines on Right Half of The Screen.

Interestingly enough, when I move my mouse (in the case if connected to a PC) or when I am watching the TV, lines also move. At first appearance, I had thought that the problem might arose from loose vertical ribbons (COF), but when I opened up the TV for further investigations, I realized that the problem cannot be solved by touching them.

Moreover, I detached the T-CON board for a new round of investigation. I personally...

LG 82UN8570AUD ~ TCON or PANEL?
                    by kca
                    Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

Looking for Vertical IC for RCA Chassis CTC159L CRT
                    by mopenstein
I'm working on my 27" RCA console TV built in 1990. It had some vertical rollover for a few months that went away after being powered on for a few minutes. I had been meaning to open it up and check it out but it had total vertical collapse before I could get to it.

Now that I have the time I opened it up and found a couple leaky capacitors around the vertical ic. So I figured the caps went bad and cooked the vertical IC.

I got the caps out and replacements on order. But when I took out the Vertical IC I saw that the chip numbers have been almost completely wiped...
