Sony KDL 52w5500 No image, no Backlights

Hi, I've a more global question compare to my current problem (post link)

When you start your TV, you don't have any image or light but you do have sound.

What would be the reason for loosing the backlights (inverter problem) and the image (T-Con problem) at the same time ?
The only common point would be the Powser Supply board ?
Or maybe the logic board ? I've read that the logic board is suppose to send the signal to the inverter to lit the backlights.

I still have sound though ...
Can an inverter board problem impact the T-Con board ? (and inverse)


My points is that many people have suggested to me to change my t-con or inverter, but it just don't make sens to me ...

Hope anyone can help me and point me to the right direction.

It can be the main board is not sending the switch B+ to feed the T-CON board or the T-CON board SMD fuse may be blown, as for the backlights, you may have bad inverter circuits, lamps, or the main board is not sending the signals to turn on the backlights.
Do you see any LED flashing the error codes?

When I power up the TV, I got no lights, no image, just sound. Then the TV turn off and I got a 13 blink then 14 blink and it keep on 14 then.

I understand what you say, but what would be the odd to have a T-CON failing at the exact same moment as the Inverter ?

Except if you tell me that a T-CON problem can impact the inverter (or reverse).

This is why I'm guessing this is a more about power supply or logic board (this is the main board right ?) problem

Did you use a flashlight, to see if there is anything on the screen?

Where can I found the chassis reference ?

Is it not possible to deduce from what I said (no backlights, no lcd screen) that either the power supply or Main board are at fault ?

EX2L-BASIL may be close to your TV.

I would download all 3.
You may want to read the PDF attached, not the same chassis but the same principles.

I did already had those documentation
It does feel a bit odd that al screen size are there except mine :s
Mainly in those documentation, you can see that there's only one inverter board
I got 2 + two intermediate board ... not sure what they are for.

I did unmount the T-CON, Power supply board and the logical board to check if there's anything strange on it but they all seems fine ...

They are master and Slave.
Does you TV look anything close what is shown on page 68 of the CTV-45 EX1 traning manual?

Pictures of your TV so we can see what we are dealing with?

Ok, I'm starting to understand the difference with my screen thx to the training manual
For small screen balancer and Inverter are on the same board
And since my screen is too big, those are separated, the balancer would be the long board and the inverter the intermediate board ?

Humm this is the first manual that I see that is treating about the "special" case of 52" screen that have two balancer/inverter

In this manuel, 14 blink says that it's a HFR problem which is a component of the LCD screen ... if this is accurate and applicable to my screen, I guess it's game over :s

Any one to confirm that this guide is accurate for my 52w5500 ?

Yes. You can use the CTV-45 as the guide to find, also read the link on post 9 on the other thread (tibimakai) which turn out to be bad inverter board. It took us awhile to figure that one out after reading the training manual many many times.

yes I had read this post few days ago.
The tv seems to be design in the same way.
But in my case I don't have any backlights (well, I haven't unmount the LCD screen, but I'm guessing that I should be able to see the light coming out from the LCD screen right ??)

You should at least see the backlights flash on for seconds before it goes into shutdown.

Nop, I dont get any response from the backlights at any moment. I did the test quiet some time. (Still with the LCD panel mount)

OK, I will need the GOOD CLEAR closed up pictures of the small white connector on the Balancer boards, and the closed up pictures of the master inverter, slave inverter, the power supply boards. The pictures must be clear enough for me to read the labels on the connectors so we do some testing of the signals on the connectors.

Hi budm, thx for your help, it's really appreciated!

There should be all the pictures in HR(a bit heavy ...)
As for the balancer's connector I wasn't sure of which one you were talking about (well I guess the smaller one connected to the inverter)
So I split the balancer board in 2 pictures in HR so it should be enough to see (the voltage ?)
