LG 47LM640T 3D Smart LED TV thin horizontal lines

Hi all

Got a LG 47LM640T 3D Smart LED TV that's got thin equidistant horizontal black lines covering the full screen. The picture underneath the lines is fine. Its just over a year old and just out of warranty (typical). I'm thinking faulty T-Con board. Any thoughts ?

hello

I've attached a photo of the screen as requested. I'm presuming this particular TV has the T-Con integrated onto the main board as it doesn't have a separate T-Con board that I could see. Any ideas ?

Either a main board or panel failure. I would be more susceptible to say mainboard because the lines are too spaced apart to be panel in my opinion. But could be wrong. Take a pic of the full screen so we can.see what it looks like

Have a look at my thread I just posted with 2 LG TV's. Dont be so quick to suspect the main board. Along the bottom of the unit is 2 PCB under the metal case directly along the bottom of the panel which seem to break down and cause this issue. If any fluid dripped down the screen from cleaning would cause this. Sadly the ribbons are glued onto the board meaning you are unable to replace.

Hi I have the same problem the lines are 5mm apart and cover the complete screen it is a 55 inch has a solution been found

Hi. My tv 47 lm640t-za is developing the same problem with horizontal line. Any solutions from someone who sort it out? Thank you. The lines on my tv are more towards the left side of the tv. The right side it's not so bad.

Its frustrating because the person who made the thread never BOTHERED to update us. I would say your mainboard is faulty here as well.

Try heating your mainboard with a hair dryer see if the problem clears.

Hi. Back with the problem. I heated first the mainboard . No effect at all. I ordered another main board and just replaced it , didn't cured the problem. What is left are the 2 pcb s under the screen which are kind of irreplaceable because are together with the screen. They've got though some small resistors Capacitors and diods I think. Any chance someone can have a play on them? Or is just waste of time. Would any magnetic field from a external hdd affect them? I had my external drive under the tv for few hours.

I Have a LG Model 55LM640S-ZA
I have same problem it just started last night. same as the photos here but my lines are more on the right side and fade out across the screen towards the left side.

Panel Problem, Completely Unrepairable.

Pretty disgusting as these sets are only Just outside Warranty.

Complain Bitterly to Maker and Place of purchase, quoting 'Not Of Merchantable Quality' and 'Last a Reasonable Time' lots and lots....

--IF they Don't play ball--Get Trading Standards involved.

We Gotta make these damned manufacturers take notice and provide Better Quality crap--instead of the mediocre crap they currently serve us up, that lasts 5 minutes, and becomes unrepairable just outside warranty!

To give you an idea--and this Does work--

I rescued a 50" LG Plasma set from recycling. Its Date of manufacture was 1 year, six? months before I had rescued it.

I bitched to LG for a week or two, they took it back--and repaired it FOC.

I had No Receipt or date of purchase, but the serial number confirmed manufacture date.

It CAN be done....

I got mine from ebay 21 Nov 2013 cost me £840.
I can't afford this sort of payout every 2 years, so i will not be buying any more expensive electronics unless it comes with a 3 year warranty or more.

I've contacted LG and the ebay seller, but im not holding my breath as im over 1 year out of warranty.

My guess is all they will do is try and talk me into buying a new tv or an expensive repair bill, but that's see how this goes

Just as i thought, all they are interested in is for me paying to get it fixed.

Just got an email from LG.

"I am very sorry to hear you are having issues, but if the TV is outside of it's one year warranty period then we will not be able to assist. All I can recommend is that you try a hard factory reset, which you can find in Settings > Option > Factory reset. Failing that you will need to look into a third party repair service like Curry's Knowhow to get the TV fixed. "

I would rather buy a none LG rather than spending even more on this now i know their devices only last 2 years then die.

Very disappointed.
