very bright white area on Samsung LA32S81BX/XST

Hi there, i am having a problem with my Samsung LA32S81BX/XST Tv.
When i stand in front of my tv the screen viewing is ok but if i move on either side of it i get a bright white halo as seen on the photos i attached.
I opened the back of the tv and the only thing i noticed immediately is a bulged capacitor of 1000 microfarad 25V (top left capacitor in image 1). Could this cause the problem?

yes, that cap could cause problems,as it is part of the inverter circuit, replace with panasonic fc/fm/fr series
fixed so far...376 lg lcd tv's,24 onn tv;s,24 panasonic lcd,16 jvc lcd,12 marshall jcm800 amps, refurb of various disco equipment lighting, old style disco decks ,and a flymo!

if you want more longevity out of the set,you only have a few caps there to replace,id ignore the large filter cap,as these rarely fail, but replace the rest

its your T-CON board, take close up picture. its could be a burn out AS15 chip.

I will change the caps and see what happens.
multimeter you don't by any chance know the values of the other caps.
i would have to reopen the tv and search one by one.

Make sure to use high quality capacitors e.g. Panasonic FM/FR/FC. Do not use generics/Maplin specials/etc.

You should verify installed values, because the manufacturer can change them in later versions but not update the schematic.

hi guys i finally replaced the caps but still have the same problem...
My tv is nearly 9 years old..could it be the lcd panel itself ?
The screen always gets very hot, that i see and feel markings (long bumps) on the top right of the screen.
Maybe better to buy a new Tv when it fails eventually rather then replacing the panel, am i correct?
The AS15 chip is fine, was some dirt from spider webs, a bit everywhere...
                  Thanks all.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I have the same issue as OP. Samsung service sucks, rather do it myself.

If the output voltages from the inverter are identical, then I would suspect aging CCFL tubes, then the panel. You can zero in to the problem by removing the panel from the backlight and seeing if the problem still exists. If so, then try replacing the CCFLs. If it is gone, then your panel is probably going bad.

Looks like tab bond issue to me.

Did you do any GAMMA DCV testing on the T-CON board?
