    Samsung LE40A656A1F Bricked?

    Hi

I sold this great TV to a guy the other day. All it needed originally was new PSU caps. That same evening he phoned me up and I think he's bricked it.

He said he was trying to change the software. As far as I can work out he didn't get as far as putting in a usb stick or anything. He said he changed the software in the service menu. Before he called me he called up Samsung, and they told him it now had no software on it and he'd have to take it to them to get new software installed.

It switches on and shows a mess of coloured lines (see pic). If I press menu I can see a vague box pop up in the mess. After about 10 secs the screen fades to dark and not much else happens.

Have tried a factory reset as well as shorting out the eeprom to reset - still the same.

I said we might have to fit another main board, but just wondering if this one is in any way redeemable?

thanks, I have been looking at that wiki, It doesn't have my tv on there unfortunately but I was able to find what looked like the cpu on the front of the mainboard instead of the rear. I had a brief moment of success earlier but I'm back to square one atm. I unplugged T-con? ribbon cable Im not to familar with tv's but shorted the eeprom and powered the tv back into service menu then reconnected the T-con and the displays works

Unfortunately it displayed for around 10 seconds and then turned off so now im back to the green and purple screen. I tried it again but when reconnecting the screen its now a cloudy black instead until rebooted.

Im fairly certain its buggered its lasted a long time and had previous repairs in the past.

        thanks for the link
