    Re: ps50q7hd

Only a couple of things I can think of and that's to go into the service menu and look for something called HDMI MP DLY or very similar, it should be set to 9, if it's sky high HDMI ports can drop out altogether and won't show up, make sure it's set to 9 or 10, see if it helps, if not a board change might be needed.

        Re: ps50q7hd

To access the advanced menu, you need to:

        Power off on remote.
Press Info, Menu, Mute, Power in that sequence.
This brings up the service menu.
        Please then proceed with care.
Scroll down to each option in the submenus - do not use left/right arrow to navigate across the menu
Press menu to return to the main service menu screen.

make sure you right down anything you change

I suppose you've tried turning both devices off, hook the cable up, turn TV on, turn source on then select HDMI source on TV? Check output resolution?

That's all the ideas I have. I Did not see any special setting in the service menu.

                service manual

No, service MANUAL paragraph 9. I'm just quoting the pubs. Sounds like you're in a calibration section which i would not mess with.

Just in case it was something simple.

I think the TV is fine, compatibility issue. I very much doubt any adjustment at the TV end will fix.

                                  Re: ps50q7hd

This is a common fault with older TVs, and you can blame hollywood / copyright industry...

They insist on encrypting the connection between the set top box/bluray and the TV because they don't want it to be copied. If the secret encryption keys used to encrypt this are compromised then the data can be copied. The keys are usually compromised after some time because people copy them and the standard is horribly broken allowing anyone who knows what they are doing to copy said keys after monitoring the HDMI data for around an hour or two.

End conclusion is TVs that are older than a few years can have their keys revoked (banned permanently from showing HD content) and the boxes will refuse to send them HD content. Yes, this means any TV nowadays because it turns out once the signal reaches the main board it's completely unencrypted from main to t-con/panel/PDP... and there are full datasheets describing these formats in my signature for example and across the wider internet.

Even though PirateBay and other sites are full of pirated movies, sports, TV, often less than two days after release - in other words, it's not making any difference - they continue with this "f**k the customer" policy.

Only thing you can really do is get a "HDCP stripper" - like HDFury - but they cost a lot of money...

NOTE: eBay has banned HDCP strippers because of the industry complaining, despite them not being very complex at all... the HDFury retails at $250 but looks to contain less than $10 of parts. http://www.3dfury.eu/images/hdfury2_5.jpg So if it were not for the 'bay banning them then you'd have cheap ones from China in no time... and the industry would hate for their broken, expensive standard (£1.50 per bluray player, £0.10 per disc, £3.00 per TV) to seem even worse!

Aging panel? I worked on one of these and had the same issue. Gradually got worse as it running on a black panel and I think with the blue screen on it was bad too in selected areas on the panel. I tried forever to adjust it out with little success. Was not too bad watching it normally.

As for no PS3 or any HD, I don't have an answer but if the output resolution is correct for what the TV can process I'm at a loss but that message is probably being sent by the skybox and the image is good so something is working.

Not something I've had to deal with.

Yeah, looks like panel aging to me. I couldn't get rid of it on my Q96 properly... luckily the Q96 was a freebie. I would never pay much for one of these sets, too many problems.

Same cause as LG panel aging prematurely, but there's no firmware update for these...

Notice the poor discharge on the gradients.
