Hi there all, I'm hoping the fix for my 42' will be easier than the 50' is turning out to be .Turned the 42' on the other day and it started with the 10 flashes error tom66 said this was an easy fix so here's hoping, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

if this is the same as the 42in ive recently fixed its just those two 1 uf 50 volt capacitors on those two moduels on the psu. i removed the psu then unsoldered the moduels just make a note which on went where as there different i have read.

I've had one of these with 10 blinks. MC301/MC201 on the PSU may be the issue. Look into changing the 1uF caps and then possibly the TEA1610T ic.
But..

.. mine turned out to be something much simpler - a connector (DG3 I think it was) on the DG board wasn't seated properly. So check the connections first and save yourself some trouble.

I'm getting one of these in about a week with the same issue - so hopefully another easy fix. Will document it.

Thanks for the responses Vince, tn and tom I'll replace those 1uf 50v caps and check the connectors for position and security and report back (I look forward to toms documenting of the fix in a week or so) thanks

can you remember the polarity for the caps? was it negative towards the IC or away from thanks

to the top of the module shows you in the video too just make sure you change the right capacitor.

It is a slightly different model Vince yours was a PZ80. PSUs are different.

It has slightly different modules but they have a similar fault.

Similar caps on the P board modules fail, sometimes TEA1610T fails too.

so still usually a easy fix then i have seen the repair service offered on ebay

That is a brand new module not a repair.

sorry yes just looked put the wrong link in was looking at two haha one offers the 7 blink fix and also the 10 blink fix if you send the boards to them.

Yeah I've done a 7 blink repair before. Unfortunately 7 blinks can ALSO be caused by bad plasma panel. I'm not sure what the percentages are but a fair few are bad panels. If not, it's usually one or two transistors, D2PAK type. Need hot air to take off properly - can try with soldering iron, but it's difficult.

So if the modules are slightly different do I still fit 1uf caps or... and the polarity is it negative to the IC or not, also is it still the cap top left of the IC? thanks

Is the chip a TEA1610T? Hard to see for sure.

It should be a TEA1610T. See my thread - I went through the same questions about the different modules and which cap, + the value of the cap. In the end I decided it was the cap top left of the ic. I looked up pinouts of TEA1610T vs TEA1611T and compared which pins the caps were connecting to. I tried to measure the capacitance of the removed caps but they're so tiny I ended up detroying them just trying to get some leads attached to stick in my capacitance meter. So I just assumed they'd be 1uF and replaced them - I used non-polarised film caps. It worked fine and still is as far as I know.

Yep they are TEA1610 not 11s
